Obituary for Douglas Allen Blaney

Blaney passed away at his home from complications of liver cancer on Monday, Sept. 3, 2018, at age 64. He was born Wednesday, Dec. 16, 1953, in Lusk, Wyo., and later adopted by Robert Lloyd and Bonna Jean (Monger) Blaney.A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m., Friday, Sept. 7, 2018, in the South Auditorium of Timberline Church, 2908 Timberline Rd., Fort Collins, CO 80525. Pastor Charles Williams of Loveland Bible Church will officiate. A funeral luncheon will follow in the East Auditorium of Timberline Church. Graveside services will be held at 4:30 p.m., the same day at the Wheatland Cemetery in Wheatland, Wyo.In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Royal Family Kids, 3000 MacArthur Blvd., Suite 412, Santa Ana, CA 92704, (714) 438-2494. Benamy, 61, has worked at the academy for 35 years. First, she cataloged fossils, insects, and mollusks. And now, she works with the museum’s collection of 1.5 million plant specimens — some dating to the Lewis and Clark expedition, some even older. As it turns out, there’s a lot you can learn from dried, flaking, 200-year-old plant samples — about the diversity of our city’s ecosystem, how it’s changed as the city has grown, and about how climate change has altered so much of our life, down to the days of the year when flowers bloom. Even as she takes pleasure in the beauty of the giant ragweed of 1859 from West Philly, the little ferns from 13th and Chestnut dating to 1887 — even if their blooms long ago lost their color — she waits for a surprise. “Sometimes it’s the same, and the same, and the same, and then pow! You come across something really cool,” she told me, in her whispering voice, as if to not disturb the flowers. Last month, she got one. Clair G. Allen

Facility in West Salem. He was born Oct. 30, 1971, at home in Vernon County to Ralph and Stella (Farr) Allen. In July of 1937, he married Gertrude Bluske, and they shared 72 years of marriage before she preceded him in death in 2008. Clair spent his adult life farming and working in agricultural product sales. He enjoyed driving his John Deere Gator around the farm and music, whether it be having the radio on in the barn or singing while riding on the gator or tractor, or sitting on the front porch singing hymns while playing guitar. Most of all, Clair loved his family, especially spending time with his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchild, and nieces and nephews. Survivors include three children, Darlene Allen of Viroqua, Karen (Dale) Weber of West Salem, and Ellen (Harvey Goede) Gianoli of La Crosse; five grandchildren, Kurt (Sally) Weber, David (Diane) Weber, Gregg (Sarah) Weber, Sarah (Tim) Nyhus and Nick Gianoli; two step-grandchildren, Angela Goede and Leah (Tom) Koscianski; 11 great-grandchildren, Austin, Clayton, Jeremy, Brianne, Morgan, and Caleb, and Danielle, Kyle, Colin, Ryan, and Quinn; two step-great-grandchildren, Julia and Charlie; one great-great-granddaughter, Serenity; and nieces, nephews, other r...
