David Casper, longtime Baldwin Park cross country and track coach, dies - The San Gabriel Valley Tribune

Subscribe now: Tribune Star-News Whittier Daily News In recent years it was routine to find David Casper on a sideline, track meet or cross country invitational taking pictures, an activity that had become a favorite hobby for him. But for those that knew him best, he was a longtime fixture in the San Gabriel Valley as a coach and teacher at Baldwin Park High School from 1962-95. He was well-known for his cross country and track and field teams. Casper, a West Covina resident, passed away recently. He was 86. There will be a Celebration of Life at Baldwin Park High School for Casper on Sunday at 11 a.m., and it is open to the public. In addition to taking pictures, Casper was still an active member of the Mt. SAC Relays and its Cross Country Invitational and had served on committees supporting those sports for more than 50 years. As a cross country coach at Baldwin Park, Casper’s teams won 13 league championships and his teams won over 500 meets in his three-plus decades in charge. Coroner finds sister of Vietnam veteran who will be buried Tuesday near Casper

After more than a week of searching, the Natrona County coroner has found a sister of the Vietnam veteran set to be be buried Tuesday morning near Casper. The sister plans to attend the funeral at the state veterans cemetery and will accept her brother’s flag. Coroner Connie Jacobson said she spoke with the sister Sunday night and that the sister will fly into Casper from southern California on Monday evening. The sister, Diane Reiman, hadn’t heard from her brother for at least two years, Jacobson said. The sister began to cry on the phone during their brief conversation, Jacobson said. “She’s relieved and grateful that he’s going to have a decent burial with honor,” Jacobson said. “I’m just glad it’s all coming together. And maybe she’ll get some answers.” Diane Reiman didn’t know why her brother had come to Wyoming but said he worked as a firefighter in Casper for a few years during the late 1970s or early 1980s. His years in Casper were some of his best, Diane Reiman told Jacobson. Jacobson found Diane Reiman through Facebook and sent her messages about her brother.
