LA MESA, Calif. — James (Jim) P. Reger, a resident of San Diego, Calif., died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016. He was born on June 2, 1952, in Buckhannon, the son of the late Robert H. Reger and Gwen Finlayson Reger.He graduated from Buckhannon-Upshur High School in Buckhannon, W.Va., in 1970. He was a three sport varsity player and was named to the All State football team his senior year. He graduated magna cum laude from West Virginia University in 1974 with a major in U.S. history with an emphasis in creative writing. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He had relocated to San Diego as a bass player/singer in The East West Band in the 1970s. He was well versed in Civil War history and was a re-enactor. He was a retired teacher of history at the secondary level in San Diego County and a prize-winning author of books including “Baptism at Bull Run, Great Battles in History: The Battle of Antietam,” “Generals of the Confederacy,” “Life in the South During the Civil War,” “The Way People Live-Life Among The Indian Fighters” and “Rebuilding Bosnia.” He was an accomplished musician, songwriter, poet, and historian and... JANE LEW — Timothy Michael Hicks, 57, of Cherry Hill Lane Buckhannon, passed away at 6:47 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, 2016 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown following a long battle with COPD.He was born in Buckhannon on Jan. 13, 1959, a son of the late Albert Herschel Hicks and Edna Grace Slaughter Hicks. His fun, friendly nature will be carried on by his son, Andrew J. Hicks (wife Danielle) of Altoona, Pa.; seven grandchildren: Alexis, Ethan, Dylan and Dayvanee Hicks, Barrett Sipes, Kayla Lee and Zakary Hick, all of Altoona, Pa.; three siblings: Sharon Lee Long, of Seaside, Calif., Shirley Ellen Feaganes, and Michael A. Hicks and wife, Linda, all of Buckhannon.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons: Thomas and Michal J. Hicks; and his brother, Robert Wayne Hicks.Tim worked as a sales manager for Courtesy Ford in Altoona, Pa. for over 24 years. She was born Jan. 5, 1935 in Kanawha Run, a daughter of the late John and Ruth Riggleman Smallridge.
