Feb 3, 2016School dismisses early for kindergarten teacher's funeral services

MATTAWAN, MI-- Mattawan Early Elementary School will dismiss students at 12:15 Friday, Jan. 22 to allow students and staff to attend funeral services for kindergarten teacher Kathleen Williams, who died Monday, Jan. 18.
Buses will run.
Williams had taught at Mattawan since 1978, welcoming more than 1,000 students to their first school experience.
A celebration of Williams' life will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Centerpoint Church, 2345 North 10th St., Kalamazoo. Doors open at 1 p.m.
Kathleen Williams was born Sept. 17, 1954 in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Thomas and Jeanne (McNeil) Williams.
She had a deep and profound love for her children, her family and her many students, according to her obituary on the Langeland Funeral Homes website.
That affection was reciprocated -- on the Remembering Mattawan Alumni Facebook page, people have shared stories of her encouragement, mentorship and inspiration.
