Allen, Lovejoy close in naming new football coaches

County and is a district rival of Class 3A Division I state champion Brock. Gage's 38-year coaching career includes an 18-year record of 137-60-9 at Lewisville with state titles in 1993 and 1996. A 1976 graduate of North Texas, Gage was coaching at Barbers Hill since 2010 after a four-year stint at Austin College. The Barbers Hill opening, of course, set the path of departure for Allen coach Tom Westerberg to become athletic director and head football coach. Paradise was 2-8 last season under Scout Broussard ... Gage's son, James Gage, was named head coach at S&S Consolidated last year. James Gage was offensive coordinator for Ronnie Gage at Barbers Hill before going to S&S in North Central Texas. Lovejoy officials are expected to announce Todd Ford of Cedar Ridge to be the Leopards' next Texas high school football coach. Ford is expected to introduce himself to the community late next week on Thursday or Friday. He was among a highly competitive group of finalists which included Terry Gambill of Waco Midway (the favorite to be named at Allen at Monday's school board meeting); Brandon Faircloth of Port-Neches-Groves (Matthew Stafford's QB coach at Highland Park) and Kerrville Tivy's David Jones. Todd Kaufmann of texasportsinsiders.com reported Ford was offered the position Wednesday. David Smoak of Waco ESPN reported Thursday that Gambill is among four finalists told by the Allen ISD that the decision would be Monday. Allen has its... (WFAA)
