Local florist spreads flowers around town for Lonely Bouquet Day

The idea was such a novelty that Copperas Cove florist Michele McGuire, owner of Michele’s Floral and Gifts, couldn’t wait to get started. A burst of creativity produced 99 separate floral arrangements, however, and she quickly realized she would need help placing the arrangements and made a call to Wendy Sledd, director of the Rabbit Fest Scholarship Program pageant. Before she knew it, the entire host of Rabbit Fest royalty and their families were on board, in her shop and ready to roll. The opportunity to help out was something none of the royalty wanted to miss out on, said Rabbit Fest Ambassador Kelsey Dane. “I think it’s a wonderful thing and I’m very glad we’re doing it because it’s going to be so uplifting for people,” she said. “I think it’s going to be a great experience for everyone involved.” Nancy Marrow, mother of Miniature Miss Mexia Hopkins, agreed. “This is amazing. It’s going to put so many smiles on so many people’s faces, because the people who pick these up won’t just get a smile for today, it’s going to be for a week that they look at these flowers and think, ‘Wow, there really are people who still care out there,’” Marrow said. “This just absolutely makes my heart so full,” McGuire said. “I didn’t think this through too well before I decided to do it, so ... the girls have been so giving and are so amazing...
