Young RI organ donor's image will be part of Rose Parade float

That really helped, because he was so young and could help so many people," his mother, Ashley Tellier Rogers, of Coventry, said Saturday.Rogers and 12-year-old Brayden Tellier, who was 3 when his brother died, put the finishing touches on Evan's image at a ceremony Saturday at the Pinewood Pub & Pizza in Chepachet as dozens of family members and supporters looked on. They filled in the eyebrows of the image made of all-natural ingredients, such as seed, spices and sand, with coffee grounds to make them a rich brown.Evan was selected to be honored with an appearance on float in the nationally televised parade due to the hours his mother has dedicated to New England Donor Services since the tragedy and the depth of Evan's gift to others, according to Kelly Green, manager of after-care services at the Waltham, Massachusetts-based organization. He is the first Rhode Island donor to be selected."A young boy who can give life to so many at such a young age," Green said.Two volunteer artists in California made Evan's image based on a photograph of him playing in the leaves. It was then flown to Rhode Island for Rogers and Brayden to complete. It will be returned to California, where it will be affixed to the 2019 Donate Life float, whose theme is Rhythm of the Heart. Living donors who have given organs will be seated on the float or walk alongside it during the parade.New England Donor Services will also pay to fly Rogers and Brayden to Pasadena, where they will help finish the float by adorning it with live flowers, Green said."The reason we do this is that it's another opportunity to spread the word about donations," Green said, adding, "I feel like donating gives a glimmer of hope in a very dark hour."Evan died at UMass Memorial Medical Center, in Worcester, of injuries he suffered in a crash on the Massachusetts Turnpike on Aug. 20, 2009. The Marquis Flower Shop, originally established by the Medicine Hat Greenhouses with manager H. Coventry, was purchased by Fred Edmunson in 1938. The Marquis Flower Shop is still operating today, 79 years after it was established. It has moved storefront locations three times, from the first floor of the Marquis Hotel of 4 Avenue South, to 312 6 St. S., to its current home at 905 3 Ave. S. Lorna Perry was a clerk and assistant manager for the Marquis Flower Shop before opening her own shop, Lorna’s Flowers, in 1953 at 1508 9 Ave. S. Lorna retired in 1987 and the new owner renamed the shop Flowers on 9th. The exhibit “Say it with Flowers” is showing at the Galt Museum & Archives until Jan. 16. Your old photos, documents, and artifacts might have historical value. Tim Flowers joins Fulham as goalkeeping coach until end of the season

Premier League title at Blackburn, has coached at several clubs. He was goalkeeping coach at Leicester and Manchester City and assistant manager at Coventry, QPR and Hull. More recently, Flowers, 49, has managed Stafford Rangers and coached at Northampton and Nottingham Forest. He left Forest last year after Stuart Pearce was sacked as manager.Flowers later took charge of first-team affairs at Kidderminster, where he had previously worked as a coach. Family comes together to remember mechanic killed in accident

Keith Denton, 39, died at Kent County Hospital due to injuries. Rescue crews were called to a Washington Street address shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday to free Denton from under the car. The incident remains under investigation. Eyewitness News spoke with Denton’s wife Tuesday, who wanted to share her husband’s story. The whole family decided to show up, holding each other, saying that’s the kind of family they are – tight-knit – and their husband, brother, and father Keith was a big part of that. “He was a great man,” said Denton’s wife, Stacey. “It was a tragic accident.” “I don’t understand why,” said his grandmother, Everlyn Denton. “That’s what I keep saying.
