But a Northeastern Pennsylvania group was having great success with an approach similar to her idea. So she drove to Scranton, where the volunteers of Petals for Goodness Sake were “so generous and so helpful,” Adams said. “It was, OK, let’s do this.” She began networking from home, calling friends and neighbors. “Because I worked in hospice I knew all of the nursing homes and the assisted living places, and I knew a lot of staff there,” said Adams. “Unfortunately, I knew a lot of funeral directors.” In July 2018, a volunteer picked up the first donation and returned ”with so many flowers in her SUV you couldn’t even see her.” Petals Please has since shifted its arranging sessions from Adams’ dining-room table to a space at Downingtown United Methodist Church. Flowers and vases or other containers are donated, and everything gets recycled, including flower petals, which get taken to a chicken farm in Malvern. Amelia Wondrasch especially enjoys that task. Flower Tents Busy for Easter Flowers

Fashion fundraiser aims to help floral programs blossom

Proceeds from the event benefit Greenhouse Project program Petal Share PA, which aims to grow a healthy, sustainable community by repurposing donated flowers. Senofonte rose to prominence in her field after a stint as designer Norma Kamali’s assistant and working partnerships with brands such as Gucci, Roberto Cavalli and more. Shamrock Foundation Needs Volunteers on Thursday!

Shamrock Foundation 2016SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) The Shamrock Foundation is putting out an urgent call for volunteers. The volunteer organization makes and delivers green corsages and boutonnieres to all the nursing home residents and hospital patients in Lackawanna County on St. Patrick's Day. Due to the heavy snowfall, the group is in jeopardy of not delivering the flowers on time for the first time in over twenty years. The organizers are in need of  all the volunteers they can get tomorrow, Thursday, March 16, to help us assemble and package the flowers.The Shamrock Foundation members will be at the Goodwill building at 925 Prospect Ave., Scranton  from 8:30 AM until 9:00 PM creating the corsages and boutonnieres. Due to the parking problems, members will gladly shuttle volunteers from the Southside shopping center on Washington Avenue. free of charge.
