Where will the Urban Roots Garden Centre be in Coquitlam? - The Tri-City News

Clarke and Kyle streets, for two years. Other Urban Roots Garden Market locations in the works are at: • 1755 Cottrell St., Vancouver • 2901 East Hastings St., Vancouver • 4506 Rupert St., Vancouver • 6191 West Boulevard, Vancouver • 20090 91A Ave., township of Langley CityState’s Carola Alder told the Tri-City News that the seven centres are in response to the COVID-19 pandemic as more people work remotely and want to update their homes. “People are also outside more and spending more time in their gardens,” she said on Tuesday. If approved after the public hearing, the Coquitlam site would start operating in late March, under three steel-frame peak tents, seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (11 a.m. on Sundays). As well, CityState is working with the parks department to tie in a pop-up parklet. There will be on-site parking for 20 vehicles and two accessible spaces, with access off Baldwin Street, said Edison Ting, a development planner with the city of Coquitlam; the current chain-link fence around the gravel-surface property will stay in place, he said. Founded 30 years ago, Canadian Valley Growers Ltd. is an independently owned company in B.C. that supplies plants to big box retailers. The Metro Vancouver pop-up garden centres also come after the closure last year of Art Knapp, a longtime business in Port Coquitlam that was owned by Wim Vander Zalm; his wife, Rose, plans to open a gardening lifestyle shop called Art Knapp Living, in the Dominion Triangle. • The public hearing on March 15 starts at 7 p.m. and is held via Zoom. To comment on the bid for the temporary use permit, call 604-927-3010 or visit coquitlam.ca/publichearing. Ambrose of South Bethany, Del., died Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at Beebe Healthcare in Lewes, Del. She was born in Mahanoy, Pa., the youngest daughter among the eight children of the late Very Rev. Basil J. Macknik and Mary (Tokay) Macknik. Ambrose retired from work as an executive secretary at Hercules. She was a loving aunt who always found time for her nieces and nephews when they sought her out, which was often. She was known for her sharp-witted sense of humor and thoughtful, practical advice. Ambrose was always fun to be around and hosted many wonderful parties for family and friends. In her youth, she was a beautiful and talented Ukrainian folk-dancer. She will be remembered for her love of music, fine gourmet cooking and elegant gardening at her beloved South Bethany beach house, and as her husband's faithful traveling, boating and fishing companion. In addition to her parents, Ambrose was preceded in death by her brothers Tom and Ted, and her sisters, Ann, Olaine, Mary and Evelyn. Ambrose is survived by her husband, Kenneth W. Ambrose, of Bethany Beach, Del.; a brother, Basil Macknik of Wilmington, Del.; three nephews, Bob Halstead, Ed Gsell and Mike Marine; a niece, Suzanne Halstead Hoffmann; and three great-nephews, John E. Hoffmann, Tristan Hoffmann and Ryan Gsell. A funeral service was to be held Aug. 14, 2018, officiated by the Rev. Week 4 Friday Night Lights football Heroes

All-State quarterback Mitch Carlson.      Last week in a 40-3 shocker over pre-season #1 Hastings St. Cecilia, Wagner, who played wide receiver in 2015, hit 11 of 17 passes for 148 yards and 3 TDs.  Wagner also rushed the ball 13 times for 124 yards two more scores.   Can you say Player-of-the-Game?        Thus far in 2016, Wagner heads the Class C-2 list in yards passing with 872 yards and 11 TDs.  Not bad for a former WR, huh?       *TJ Davis-Boys Town - How dangerous is this 6-0, 170 pound junior quarterback for the Cowboys?  Davis kept hammering away last Friday until his Boys Town team came away with a wild 50-40 win over Ashland-Greenwood.   Davis was true on 13 of 19 passes for 234 yards and 5 TDs.  He also ran for 45 and 15 yard TDs and made 3 tackles on defense.     For the year, TJ Davis is 52 of 79 passing for 712 yards and 13 TDs with only 2 picks.  That is hitting his targets at a 68% clip boys and girls.      *Bryce Zimmerer-Creighton - Coach Gene Suhr rode this 5-9, 160 pound sophomore last Friday afternoon to the tune of 41 carries.  Zimmerer responded with 227 yards rushing and TD runs of 1 and 8 yards as the Bulldogs shocked the daylights out of West Holt, 56-14.   After being blown out by Neligh-Oakdale 72-44 in the season opener, Creighton has beaten West Boyd 76-0, then the West Holt blowout.  Zimmerer’s 3 game rushing total stands at 384 yards and 5 TDs.   This Creighton bunch looks like a State Championship team to me right now.  Remember, Neligh-Oakdale is not eligible for the Class D-1 playoffs this fall. *Ryan Neumann-Creighton - Neumann is the man that directs this potent Creighton attack and the key to a title run.  In that manhandling of West Holt, the 6-0, 180 pound senior hit on 12 of 15 passes for 186 yards and 4 touchdowns, all in the 1st half.  Tyler Stubben caught 2 of Neumann’s scoring tosses (42, 9 yards) while Tyler Lilly snared the remaining two TD receptions covering 10 and 8 yards.   This Neumann dude is athletic, mobile and very intelligent.   ***1000 Yard Passing Alert*** *AJ Hubner-Creighton Prep - Completed 20 of...
