Tipperary deaths and funeral details, July 6 - TipperaryLive.ie

Thomas Rooney4 Cnoc Ard Mews, Ballina, Tipperary Thomas Rooney, 4 Cnoc Ard Mews, Ballina, Co. Tipperary, formerly of London, England. Peacefully at his residence. Sadly missed by his wife Mary, daughters Jackie and Lisa, son Anthony, son in law Mark, daughter in law Kerry and grandchildren. Due to the Government restrictions on Covid 19 and the HSE guidelines on public gatherings Thomas' Funeral will be private , reposing will take place at his residence on Tuesday evening 6th of July from 6- 8pm for family and close friends only. Requiem Mass will take place on Wednesday the 7th at 11:30am in Our Lady and St. Lua's Church, Ballina followed by a private family cremation in Shannon Crematorium. Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Palliative Care Milford Hospice. The family wish to offer their sincere thanks to the palliative care nurses at Milford Hospice for their loving care and attention to Thomas. The irresistible rise of the rose - Financial Times

Derek Henderson, entirely focused on arrangements of stems cut from flowers at the New Zealand farm Matthews Roses. In late 2019 Gooch, the London-based founder of Fjura, travelled to the north island of New Zealand where she and Henderson spent 10 days, from morning to late evening, shooting 150 varieties of flowers in the beautiful light of a local village hall close to the farm. “I didn’t have to think of anything but the flowers, which were all different sizes and forms, some singles, some floribundas,” says Gooch. “The colour variations were incredible, and the fragrances. It was the most dream-like week.”The rose has long inspired grand obsessions. When Empress Joséphine bought the Château de Malmaison outside Paris in 1799 she set about collecting every available cultivar. During the Napoleonic Wars her roses – and her London-based advisor, John Kennedy – were given safe passage across the Channel. Ryan's 'Strange Flowers' deals with disappearances - Texarkana Gazette

Moll returns with the news that she's been working in London. But why had she vanished with no explanation? We don't find the answer to that for a good long while, but we do learn that she disappeared from London as abruptly as she had from Ireland. That news is borne to the Gladneys by Alexander, an Englishman of Jamaican ancestry, a Black man who is in fact her abandoned husband. He has tracked her down and come to join her, bringing with him their strangely pale infant child, Joshua. As it happens, Alexander, a gentle, hardworking man, is eventually accepted by the villagers impressed by his decency and ability to fit in. He even takes up hurling for a season, drawing "crowds that had never before been seen, all turned out to see the hurling black man." But if Alexander finds his place in this little world, there's still something not right in the marriage, something amiss with Moll. As it eventually emerges, their son, Joshua, senses this and, in time, he, too, abruptly leaves without notice. The working out of the sadness and secrets of this little family is beautifully done, poignant rather than depressing, and ending on a sweet note. Ryan's prose is a miracle of fluidity, of country talk flowing in and out of people's thoughts, capturing the Irish soul in its whole essence as brilliantly as any writer ever has. April 10 - Jack London State Historic Park - Limited to eight hikers. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sign up on the website -jacklondonpark.com. April 22 - Sonoma Land Trust – A virtual presentation on wildflowers and wildlife. 7 p.m. Register on the website - sonomalandtrust.org. If you are exploring on your own, you can download a Sonoma County Wildflower Guide to print out or load in your smartphone. Just go to the Sonoma County Regional Parks website and type “wildflower guide” in the search bar at the top of the webpage. The guide is organized by color – helpful in identifying the little beauties you encounter on the trail. On the parks website there is also a list of the best spring wildflower walks. The two Regional Parks in Petaluma have a wide array of wildflowers. The serpentine soil of the southern West Ridge Trail of Tolay Lake has the rarest of wildflowers. Wildflowers can be found on almost any trail in Helen Putnam Regional Park. Another great resource is the iNaturalist app. It is a joint initiative by the California Academy of Sciences and National Geographic. The app helps identify plants and animals around you. You can record and share your observations of the wildflowers (and animals). It has video tutorials to guide you on using the wealth of information on the site. It even has a Teacher’s Guide with pointers for use by students. April’s wildflowers make hiking a little more magical. With sunny days ahead, enjoy the trails. ...
