Jun 10, 2016Family upset after flowers and tributes to Spring Bank lorry victims removed
We liaised with the family via colleagues at Collingwood School and were in touch to ask about the removal of the flowers which had perished, to which they consented.
"The non-perishable tributes are stored for the family to collect when they are ready."
The family say the city-wide outpouring of grief and huge swell of support has helped them cope with their loss.
The mum and daughter were killed after being hit by a lorry while on a pedestrian crossing on April 29.
Ms Jackson's partner and Cidalia's dad, Leo Mendes, said: "There is no way we can thank these people enough.
"It is something we could never imagine people would do.
"For people to come out and show their support has been amazing.
"It shows that when it matters, people really do care."
Ms Jackson's daughter Sadie is also amazed by the support they have received, not just from friends but complete strangers.
"The reaction from people has been mad," she said. "My mum and sister would be really grateful for all the support we've received.
"My little brothers and sister are also thankful and delighted."
Family friend Ruhal Husain set up a Go Fund Me webpage to help the grieving family with funeral expenses.
He said he thought it would take a month to reach his £5,000 target but, within days, the dream amount had been raised.
"The money raised by the public on the fundraising page has helped us give the funeral my mum and sister deserve," Miss Jackson said. "We also want to thank Browns Funeral Parlour.
"I was nervous about the funeral, but it was really nice."
Members of the public raced to help Ms Jackson and Cidalia after they were hit.
"We would also like to thank those who helped at the scene," Miss Jackson said. "It must have been so traumatising, but everyone did what they could."

Dec 30, 2015Gail Williams: five Perth food trends you couldn't avoid from 2015
Shadow Wine Bar, which brought an air of pared-back Fitzroy and Collingwood to the colourful Northbridge precinct.
Right on trend then -- and with even more wow factor -- was this month's opening of Como, The Treasury, where 48 elegant rooms are housed in Perth's 140-year old State Buildings. Like Alex Hotel the in-house restaurants Petition Kitchen and Long Chim – and the rooftop bar, Wildflower have become instant hangouts for hipsters.
*And in 2016? East Freo – following on from the Hougoumont Hotel in Bannister Street – will enter the field with its 24-room boutique hotel, Level Six, with a rooftop bar and food by former Gingerboy chef Leigh Power.
The Negroni, it's fair to say, has divided opinion...
Negronis
Negronis are the new Cosmopolitans. Which could also mean they're the new fedoras, skinny jeans , pulled pork and chocolate salted caramel. But, heck, there's a reason so many office girls are lining up at Mechanics Institute, Frisk, Flour Factory, The Standard and The Dominion League to get their lips around the bittersweet thinking woman's cocktail – a mix of gin, Campari, sweet vermouth and a twist of orange peel. It's been described as a drink for serious drinkers, a punishment for a crime not yet committed, a horrible joke, an earthy litmus test of bartenders, and the definition of balance and simplicity.
Whatever, it's currently THE preferred late night tipple of bar tenders and office girls alike through Perth. I'm putting that down to gin, fast becoming Australia's most popular white spirit drink. And as bad boy Anthony Bourdain says a Neg... (Sydney Morning Herald)
