Arlen Dean Froese, passed away peacefully at his home in Ponca City on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016. He is survived by his wife, Mary Isenberg; three daughters, Jackie Engelhardt and husband Mike, of New Braunfels, Texas; Lisa Hays and husband Ken, of Wichita, Kan.; and Elizabeth Fike and husband Gary, of Ponca City; two sons, Kelly Froese, of Fort Meyers, Fla.; and Christopher Froese, of Grand Junction, Colo.; two sisters, Mary Lue Goodsell, of Tulsa; and Jean Nightengale, of Ponca City; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his father, Pete Froese, formerly of Blackwell; his mother Mabel Bergen Froese; one sister, Delores Jean Froese; and one great-niece, Ashley Au. Arlen was born Feb. 21, 1939, in Enid, the son of Pete and Mabel Froese. He attended schools in Nardin and Blackwell. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps 1956-59 and the USMC reserve from 1959-62. City, as June Mason, passed away peacefully at the Boulder City Hospital on Tuesday, January 19, 2016, at the age of 84. She was born at home in Ponca City, Oklahoma, to Richard and May Marlow, a farming family. As a teen, she sold watermelons by the roadside, drove farm equipment including dirt trucks, and by high school was milking twenty cows by hand before and after school.
June attended Oklahoma State University but headed to Denver, Colorado, after three years of college. She used her excellent shorthand and typing skills to land a job at Continental Oil where she met Gene Mason. Together they started a life, eventually moving, with their daughters, Cynthia, Teresa, and Marlena, to Boulder City, Nevada, in 1962. They all lived in the little pink house across the street from the Boulder City Junior-Senior High School which allowed the girls to participate in all the wonderful activities Boulder City had to offer.
June started as a library assistant at the Boulder City High School in 1966 and eventually became the principal’s secretary until 1976 when she was hired for the Reading Center at the University of Nevada, College of Education, Las Vegas, Nevada. Wilber Andrew Kimmell, passed away Sunday, Jan. 3, 2016, at Ponca City Hospital. He was born at the Kimmell homestead northeast of Covington on April 22, 1924. He helped farm and attended Garber/Covington schools until he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1944. He served in Europe beginning with the Battle of the Bulge until after the war ended. He was wounded and received a Purple Heart. After the war, Wilber returned to Covington where he worked on the family farm and later a farm in Skeedee. He moved from the farm to work for the Champlain Pipe Line and the Champlain Oil Refinery until his retirement in 1980. After retirement he worked part time for Frontier Siding and Window in Ponca City. He loved all things outdoors and was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved camping and traveled to Bluegrass festivals near and far. He had a green thumb and he always had a huge garden that was renowned for producing enough for everyone. Ramsey” Zeller, passed away on Friday, Jan. 1, 2016, at Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City as result of complications from diabetes. She was born in Ponca City, on Jan. 27, 1963 the daughter of Raymond and Rosemary Ramsey. She was raised in Ponca City and graduated from Ponca City High School in 1982. On May 13, 2001, she and Theron Zeller were married and made their home in Oklahoma City. They were members of St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church in Yukon. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for several companies in the Oklahoma City area and most recently as a cashier at Kohl’s. She enjoyed crocheting and visiting with family and friends and spending time with her great-nephew, Mikel. She is survived by her mother, Rosemary; brothers, Tom, Mark and wife Cheryl, of Ponca City; and sister Jennifer and husband Doug Walls, of El Reno; niece, Audra and husband Jeremy Buxton and their children Koen, Gavin and Logan, of Round Rock, Texas; nephew, Brady Ramsey and his son Brady II, of Oklahoma City and niece, Arhia Ramsey and her son Mikel, of Bethany, Okla. Miles was born on May 2, 2005 in Ponca City, Oklahoma to Kelly and Jill (Hardy) Young. He grew up in Cushing and attended Harmony and Upper Elementary schools. Miles lived a full life and brought joy and happiness to those he knew. He traveled to Disney World, Las Vegas, Mt. Rushmore, the Rocky Mountains, the Great Smoky Mountains, the Pacific Ocean, the Atlantic Ocean, and the Redwood Forests. Miles appreciated a good milkshake and his family took joy in providing him with the treat. Most of all Miles loved everyone he knew without judgment or reservation, creating thousands of happy smiles and memories along the way.
