Memorial services for Verna will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2016, at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church with Father Steve Bilsbury officiating. Laura Jean Schoonover Gregg

Services for Laura Jean Gregg, 89, will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the Lone Grove First Baptist Church with the Reverend Morgan Ashworth officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Grove Cemetery. A time of visitation and support for the family will be from 5:30 to 7 p.m. this evening at the funeral home. The daughter of the late Arthur Leon and Arretta “Jo” Buckmaster Schoonover, Laura Jean was born June 20, 1926, in Yale, Okla., and passed away on Dec. 25 in a local hospital. She and Alvin Gregg were married Jan. 15, 1944, in Shawnee and they moved to Lone Grove in 1946. Laura Jean was a homemaker and very active in the Lone Grove First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school and was active with the youth. Alvin preceded her in death Jan. 5, 1991. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Jim and Bob Schoonover. She is survived by her daughters, Vicky Alvarez of McAllen, Texas and Ginger Byrne of Lone Grove; her son, Gary David Gregg and his wife, Lynn of Wilson; her grandchildren, Travis Jones and wife, Nellie, Shawn Byrne and wife...
