Five Flower Powered Hikes - 425magazine.com

Mount Rainier National Park, so your furry companions will need to turn back at the park boundary or continue down the Pacific Crest Trail to visit Dewey Lake. This trail provides lakes, meadows, and stunning mountain views. Those who have less time or don’t want to stray too far from their vehicle can park at Tipsoo Lake, which is in the park, and view one of the most famous views of Mount Rainier reflected in a wildflower-ringed lake. Get there early in the morning before the wind picks up, when the lake water is like glass, for the best reflections. Sheep Lake to Sourdough Gap If you pass the Tipsoo Lake parking area, just around the corner, past a foot bridge, is another parking area for the Pacific Crest Trail managed by the U.S. Forest Service. Heading south from this parking area will take you to Tipsoo Lake; north will take you along the Pacific Crest Trail to Sheep Lake, Sourdough Gap, and beyond. Sheep Lake is a 3.6-mile round trip with a modest 400-foot elevation gain. The trail to and beyond Sheep Lake is lined with wildflowers. You can cool off in the lake and continue up Sourdough Gap. There are Forest Service campsites around Sheep Lake available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can cool off in the lake and continue up Sourdough Gap for more adventure. This is the Pacific Crest Trail; you can hike all the way to Canada.

Cake and flowers: Rockcastle in Greece adds a bakery - Rochester Democrat and Chronicle

Pond Road in Greece. Call it serendipity. Tammy DiCecca of Special T Cakes was looking to move from her shop on Dewey Avenue near Walmart. Meanwhile, Wendy Rockcastle had extra space in her Long Pond Road shop after having opened a floral design center in Rochester where many of her floral designers now work. The spare retail space turned out to be perfect for a custom cake baker inside the floral shop. Special T specializes in cannoli cakes that start at $14. Seasonal fruit pies and cheesecakes are also customer favorites. DiCecca also takes custom orders for cake creations. Gates bakery Near the border of Greece at 1579 Spenceport Road in Gates is a new bakery. Debbie Fedele-DeCoste recently opened Debbie's Wedding Cakes, Sweets and Specialties. Debbie Fedele-DeCoste has been baking all her life and has been in retail in and out as she battled cancer twice. She was working out of a home bakery when she decided to open her bake shop. Debbie's is known for its Italian cookies. She also has a wide variety of cakes available and her cupcakes are bargain priced at $1.15 each.
