Robert Mercer, CEO who helped win Goodyear War, dies at age 96 - Akron Beacon Journal

He graduated from Yale in 1946 with a degree in mechanical engineering.He is survived by his wife, Mary (Deuel); they married in 1947. That same year he joined Goodyear as a sales trainee, selling conveyor belt and industrial hose in the company’s Duluth, Minnesota, territory that included Michigan’s Upper Peninsula.He was promoted throughout his years at Goodyear and was named company president in 1978, chief operating officer in 1980 and then chairman and CEO in 1983, succeeding Charles Pilliod. Plants not seen in Ohio in decades found in Summit, Portage counties - Akron Beacon Journal

Bissell was the one to find it, and both times, it was found in Summit County.Bissell, the director of natural areas and curator of botany with the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, spotted the plant species in Long Lake Fen in the Portage Lakes area of southern Summit County last year.It’s one of four plant species previously considered "lost" in Ohio that were rediscovered naturally growing in the state in 2019, according to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Natural Areas and Preserves."It was a pleasant surprise to find it," said Bissell, who started working at the museum as a gardener and collections assistant in 1971.
