2018 'All-America' flowers, veggies to consider for spring (photos)

June. Jeff Griff, owner of Lowe's Greenhouse, Florist & Gift Shop in Chagrin Falls, said he usually waits to see which varieties stand the test of time before adding them to his production schedule for the future. "That being said, we did add the Onyx ornamental pepper to this fall's program," he added. Danny Gouge of Willoway Nurseries, a wholesale grower in Avon, said that company likes to do its own trials before introducing plants to their production process "to insure that we are offering the best selections for consumer gardening success." But the company will be shipping a few of the new selections to greenhouses, mostly in the annuals area. All America Selection winners are chosen by region, too. For Ohio, go to all-americaselections.org/product-category/region/great-lakes. The AAS website also lists winners from previous years.
