Figures, Flowers And Fire - South Pasadena Review

I feel like the project picked me.” For the Santa Clarita fire-station project, Sobieski enlisted fellow ArtCenter graduate Tim Carey and Judson Studios in South Pasadena, who fabricated windows featuring Sobieski’s colorful images that capture the tradition and reflect the life of a firefighter. In the near future, there will be a dedication ceremony that honors the firefighters and unveils the windows to the community. Sobieski also is working on a related coloring book for kids that will be given out at the dedication. Her May 17 solo show at Plan:d Gallery in Frogtown will combine her two main bodies of work — figurative paintings and florals — with the possibility of some glasswork as well. “I like painting flowers because they’re so forgiving,” Sobieski pointed out. “It’s not like drawing people, where you can instantly tell if something is off. With petals, you can twist and manipulate the elements without it looking wrong. What’s more important is the vocabulary of the mark, the color and the distances between the objects — that’s what tells the story.” When she...

See Pink’s son, Jameson, welcome her home with flowers - TODAY

Brazil.“Mama, I got you flowers,” Jameson said as his mom hugged him in the car.Pink’s husband, Carey Hart, appeared to be filming the sweet moment, and Jameson assured his dad that he had gotten him flowers, too.“I missed you so much,” Pink said as she snuggled with her little boy. “I love my flowers. They’re so beautiful.”Sept. 9, 201900:41The pop singer, 40, has been on the road a lot lately for her "Beautiful Trauma" world tour, which wraps up next month. But between shows, she always makes time to bond with Jameson, Hart and her 8-year-old daughter, Willow. The family of four celebrated Pink receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame earlier this year. The whole family came out to celebrate Pink's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.Mike Blake / ReutersPink has said motherhood has “completely changed” her, and it's also affected her her approach to making music."I'm much more open, I'm much more accepting of myself, I'm much more thoughtful," the singer told Carson Daly on TODAY in April. "I think about the world more, and what we're leaving for these kids, and the direction we're headed in. And so I guess it changes your music."She also talked about the joy her kids br...

Pink’s Son Jameson, 2, Welcomes Her Home With A Bouquet Of Flowers In Sweet Instagram Video - Hollywood Life

The singer shared a video of the flower surprise to her Instagram on Oct. 9, and it’ll make you shed a tear. In the clip, Pink and her husband, Carey Hart, 44, drive up to what appears to be a ranch, and in climbs their toddler! “Mama, I got you flowers,” Jameson gushes as he enters the car, holding the bouquet. The toddler didn’t want his dad to feel left out, because he added, “I got you flowers, too!” “Happy homecoming. Spider-Man and flowers ??,” Pink captioned the video. It was a clever reference to the Spider-Man: Homecoming film (Jameson was repping a Spidey shirt) and the fact that she was literally experiencing a “homecoming”! In addition to the performing gig in Brazil, Pink is nearing the end of her Beautiful Trauma World Tour, which kick-started in March 2018 and has its last show at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, TX on Nov. 2. Pink’s kids really do look up to their punk-pop mom! Her daughter Willow Hart, 8, paid tribute to Pink’s past rock ‘n’ roll hairstyles by shaving half her head, which Pink’s husband revealed in an Instagram photo on Sept. 9. Carey shared an important PSA about owning your individuality, just like his daughter does! “Loving my punk rock daughter. Remember everyone, fly your own flag,” the former motorcycle rider wrote. “There is no box to be put in. Its better to be your own self. Own it, and love it. And if anyone has a problem with it, tell them (politely) to move on. Cant wait to see the woman you grow up to be. I have a feeling you are gonna be strong, fierce, companionate, and caring. I’m so proud...

Rare Ohio plant found near Vermilion - Norwalk Reflector

Jim Bissell, curator of botany at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, says the last known sighting of Carey's smartweed (Persicaria careyi) in Ohio that he is aware of was in Erie County in 1894. But Bissell and some volunteers found it in 2017 near Vermilion, in Brownhelm Township in Lorain County, just across the Erie County border. It was in a Lorain Metro Parks wetland, Bissell said. The find was announced a few weeks ago in an article in the Ohio State Nature Preserves 2018 annual newsletter. The piece by Rick Gardner, chief botanist for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, states that the rediscovery of Carey's smartweed is part of Bissell's "incredible long list of best finds over the 40 years of botanizing Ohio." Gardner's article says that Carey's smartweed was last seen in Ohio in 1920. Asked about the differing accounts of how long the weed has been in hiding, Bissell says there may be another record for the plant he is unfamiliar with. Bissell explains that Carey's smartweed is part of the smartweed group of plants. Smartweeds have flowers on top and like to grow in we...
