Memorial Day cemetery visits and ceremony detailed
The 16th annual free Family Fun Day is slated for Memorial Day from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Brookville Town Park. Stayin’ Alive (www.stayinalive24.org), the Franklin County Local Coordinating Council, is the organizer, reports executive director Melinda Brown. “Come out and enjoy the day and learn about being safe and healthy. Booth participants will be providing crafts, activities and games. Ruth Shank Talbott Leffler
Franklin County, Indiana, the daughter of Leon Paul and Beatrice Mae Klopp Shank, both of whom preceded her in death. Ruth graduated from Brookville High School in 1946. In 1947, she married the love of her life – Vearl Talbott. After nearly forty-five years of marriage, Vearl passed away in 1992. In 1995, she married her dear friend, Walt Leffler and they had a very happy marriage until Walt's death in 1996. She was also preceded in death by five siblings, Frances DeMeo, Betty Shank, Charles Shank, Paul Shank and Robert Shank; a sister-in-law, Martha Mae Shank; a son-in-law, Thomas France; a granddaughter, Christina Hicks; a great-grandson, Tommy Saunders; a great-great-grandson, Michael Ferrel Jr.; and a good friend, Urie Faris.
Those who were blessed to be loved by Ruth, and will miss her smile, include her children, Robert ( Helen) Talbott, Melanie (James) Greiwe and Mary "Talley" France; grandchildren, April Hodson, Bruce Talbott, Brian (Katie) Greiwe and Renee (Kevin)Walsh; step-children, Linda Allen, Mike (Carol) Leffler, Cindy (Randy) Smith and Lynn (Marc) Oliver; a sister-in-law, Charlene Shank; several great-grandchildren; and many wonderful friends.
She was a very active and faithful member of the Everton Community Church.
