Traditional Valentine's Day means flowers, candy and dinner

In Ashtabula County, most people show their affection for their sweethearts  in the traditional ways — with flowers, candy or a special dinner. Around the nation the trends haven’t changed that much. According to mashable.com, other than a simple card, candy, flowers, dinner or evening out are still among the top treats for couples nationally. Andrew Viancourt, the “Chocolate Bark Czar” at Marianne’s Chocolates on Bridge Street in Ashtabula Harbor, said chocolate bark, as well as chocolate covered strawberries and boxed assortments were the three big favorites at the shop this Valentine’s Day. Marianne’s Chocolates is owned by Troy and Lorie Dalrymple. Nick Dalrymple is Products Manager. “We’re not usually open on Sunday, but since it was Valentine’s Day we kept the shop doors open so people could get chocolate gifts,” Viancourt said. “Chocolate bark is selling better than usual this year, as well as the traditional favorite chocolate covered strawberries.” He said the bark had gained s...
