Obituary: Robert H. ‘Bob’ Werden - Albuquerque Journal

Werden, age 84, a resident of Cincinnati, Ohio, and from 1988-2016, a resident of Rio Rancho, N.M., died Nov. 12, 2020. He was born Nov. 2, 1936, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to the late Clayton and Edna (Fowler) Werden Sr. Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Helen A. Werden (nee Dustrude); daughters, Deborah L. Smalley (Jesse) and Laura L. O’Brien (Terry); five grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Watermelon Mountain Ranch (a no-kill animal shelter), 1512 Deborah Road, No. 203, Rio Rancho, NM 87124. Private services will be observed at the convenience of the family. Inurnment will take place at Rest Haven Memorial Park in Evendale, Oho. Frank Phelan, 61 of Trumbull

Frank graduated from Cardinal Spellman High School in the Bronx in 1972. He went on to earn his degree in Accounting, graduating from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY in 1976. He passed the Connecticut CPA exam in 1980. Between 1980 and 1989, Mr. Phelan worked first as an Internal Auditor at the Pittston Company in Greenwich and then as the Corporate Controller for Rosco Laboratories in Port Chester. More from Trumbull Patch In 1989, he began his career in the shipping industry and in 1997, after a management buyout, he became Partner and CFO of Hawaii Ship Management of Stamford, and continued in those positions until his retirement in 2009. He will be greatly missed by his family and his many friends for his warm and caring heart, his ever-ready humor and his generosity of spirit. He is survived by his wife Virginia of 25 years and his two sons, John and Samuel all of Trumbull, his brothers and sisters, Judith Berak (Aylett, VA), Nancy Manning (Wilmington, NC), John Phelan Jr. (Edmunton, Alberta, Canada) Robert Phelan (Manassas, VA) and Janice Phelan (Cleveland, OH). Janet G. O'Connell, 96

Jan. 19. She was 96. Janet O’Connell: speech pathologist, Realtor. Contributed photo Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a graduate of The College of New Rochelle and earned a master’s from Columbia University. During World War II, she joined the American Red Cross and was posted to Miami Beach where she served until the end of the war supporting the Army Air Force redistribution service, while also meeting her future husband Bob. She taught speech and drama (her first love) at both her alma mater and Manhattanville College. After focusing on her young daughters, she began work as a speech pathologist for the Norwalk school system. Over her 20- year career at Norwalk, she established a model program for the speech and hearing impaired as her job evolved to supervisor of language, speech, hearing and academically talented. During this time, she also served as president of the Connecticut chapter of the American Speech and Hearing Association. Upon retirement in 1984, she began yet another successful career as a realtor for Coldwell Banker, where she was a member of the Million Dollar Club.
