Funeral set for man killed in Mahopac Falls fire

Delaney may have become trapped in the house and succumbed to smoke inhalation. Delaney, who was born in Mount Kisco, graduated from Mahopac High School in 1995 before earning a degree in accounting/finance from the State University of New York at Oswego, according to his obituary. He was the branch manager at a Chase bank in Peekskill and was a longtime bartender at Red Mills Pub in Mahopac Falls. Delaney is survived by his parents, Richard and Mary Yantos Delaney; sister, Tracey Delaney, and her husband, John Wise; brother, John Delaney, and his girlfriend, Joanna Rose Petrizzo; uncle, John Yantos, and his wife, Jeannie; nephew, Quint Delaney Wise; and cousins, Justine Boles and Jessica Yantos. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Delaney's memory can be made to ReSource Physical Therapy, 657 E. Cottonwood St., Suite 3D, Cottonwood, AZ 86326, with attention to Dave Dumyahn. ReSource provides services to autistic and special needs children, according to Delaney's obituary. Demolition nearly done on iconic Mt. Kisco florist

The building will be reconstructed as the home of Suburban Floors.(Photo: Matt Coyne/The Journal News)Buy Photo MOUNT KISCO - Demolition is nearly complete on the Reber Florist property at the corner of Lexington and Smith avenues, but the new owners won't be too far removed from the family that operated the flower shop for 60 years. Once all the work is done, the new building will become home to Suburban Floors, a local carpet, vinyl and hardwood-flooring company part-owned by Reber Florist owner John Reber's daughter, Emily Carpentieri. “It’s always been a goal to keep the property in the family, somehow,” Reber said. “It was always a dream.” Reber's parents, immigrants from Germany in the years before World War II, opened the store, first renting property in Valhalla, then buying the building on Lexington Avenue. Reber said the family refurbished the building and built greenhouses over a number of years. Those have since been torn down in short order, with just the front wall left standing. Accord...
