Capital Region celebrates Valentine's Day with flowers, candy

Felthousen’s Florist. It was a busy day, this florist alone saying they’re making 500 deliveries from the Niskayuna store and 300 from the Cohoes location. Most people said their plans include something sweet, like a box of chocolates, or a romantic dinner and flowers. However, many said they celebrate Valentine’s Day every day of the year, so this one day doesn’t have to be a big expense. And it doesn’t always have to be the man’s job to plan. We found Kathryn Brickley buying flowers for her husband.“He is always so generous in buying me gifts throughout the year that it's kind of fun to switch it up,” said Brickley. She says she’s making a surprise delivery with white and pale green roses.“Roses for love and the green for a little bit of Irish in him,” said Brickley. We found more love stories waiting to be told by those waiting at the register.Michael Perman of Niskayuna was buying yellow roses.“I happen to love my wife. And she happens to love yellow roses,” said Perman. He says they’ve been married 20 years. We also ran into Chris Buono of Albany buying for his wife.“My best friend, my high school sweet heart, so every day is Valentine's Day with her,” said Buono. These love birds all said they don’t feel too stressed to spend, that it can be simple, they just want to make their sweeties smile every day.
