Popular Inverness florist's shop attacked by vandals overnight - Inverness Courier

The outside of The Flower Company has been 'tagged' by vandals.An Inverness florist is calling for information about damage to the front of its business in an overnight attack.The Flower Company on Church Street, called for information on social media, after arriving at work this morning to discover vandalism around the doorway to the front of the shop.On Facebook the owners of the business, asked people to be kind and to support local business. Floral tribute honours frontline casualties of Covid-19 - STV News

News Unions and community councillors pay their heartfelt respects. A colourful display has been left on the banks of the River Ness in Inverness. A touching floral tribute has been laid by the banks of the River Ness in Inverness to honour frontline health and care staff who have died during the battle against coronavirus.The colourful display was organised by trades unionists and members of the local Park Community Council.The flowers were placed at the workers’ memorial at Friars Shott in Huntly Street earlier this week, to mark the annual International Workers’ Memorial Day.Separately, a message was posted online by the Inverness and District Trades Union Council which called for better personal protective equipment for those working in essential services during the crisis.It stated: “Remember the dead, fight for the living.”Covid-19 has claimed the lives of more than 100 UK health and care workers.

First-ever Highlands garden festival to be staged at Inverness Botanic Gardens

As the attraction enjoys its milestone 25th year, it will step into the history books by hosting the first Highland Garden Fest on Sunday July 22. Gardening enthusiasts are being invited along to the event at Inverness Botanic Gardens, which first opened its doors in 1993 to provide an oasis of calm and beauty on the outskirts of the bustling city. The festival will celebrate everything from nurturing flowers to growing fruit and vegetables, landscaping and attracting wildlife to your garden. Ewan Mackintosh, manager of the gardens' Nursery and GROW Project, said he was "delighted" to be hosting the first Highland Garden Festival. The great flower migration took place last Saturday when FFTF members from Inverness to the Isles of Scilly finished picking their flowers and loaded them into cars and ferries. These deliveries converged at 12 hubs before larger vans took the buckets to the Great Pavilion in London.
