Kingsland Manor to Offer Flower Design Class June 23 in Nutley

NUTLEY, NJ - Kingsland Manor will host a floral design class on Saturday June 23 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the historic home in Nutley's Kingsland Park.
This class will introduce you to the creative world of floral design using New Jersey grown flowers. You'll learn the basic elements and principles of floral design and leave with a beautiful arrangement worth $85 in a shop along with the knowledge you need to create your own designs.
The cost of the class is $45 and include instruction, all floral materials, and refreshments. Space is limited to 20 people. Sign Up for E-News
The class is being led by Janet J. Corrao, AIFD, CFD, a certified floral designer and the former owner of Kingsland & Franklin Florals. The Nutley Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. through Oct. 30, rain or shine, in Municipal Lot 1, located on William Street.
The market, established in 2009, features musical entertainment and a variety of fresh regionally grown produce, as well as cut flowers, homemade cheese, dried fruit, fresh nuts, pickles and bread. It helps New Jersey family farmers, enables people to meet and ask questions of farmers, brings shoppers into the business districts, and a place to meet friends and neighbors.
Returning producers include Asprocolas Acres, Hoboken Farms, Gourmet Nuts & Dried Fruit, Pickles Olives Etc., The Little Bake Shop and There’s Da Rub Spice Co. The 2016 season welcomes sustainable tea company Steep for the Trees and artisanal food company The Farmer & The Chickpea.
The Greenutley Committee, under the direction of Joseph Scarpelli, has planned free events in conjunction with the market.

Feb 3, 2016Emily D. Burklow Clouse, 89, remembered for her contagious smile
Rutherford, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late, Stapleton Conway Deitrick and Emily “Emmy” Beverly Randolph Deitrick.
Emily graduated from Nutley High School in Nutley, New Jersey, where she met her future husband and love of her life, Troy Noel Burklow Jr. She was a majorette and Troy, a football star at Nutley High School. Troy served his country in United States Navy, while Emily went to Westhampton College, University of Richmond, where, playing four years of collegiate sports, she was captain of the basketball team and all state in field hockey her senior year. That year she was the proud recipient of the Seal Award which is the highest award from the Westhampton Athletic Association given for exceptional sportsmanship and contagious enthusiasm, which Emily exhibited all throughout her life. She also served as an officer for four years in the Physical Education and Mathematics Clubs while in College. She graduated in 1948 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics; only 1 of 9 bachelor’s degrees awarded at the women’s college that year. In December of 1948, she married Troy and they moved to Cookeville, TN where she took an accountant position with Southern Continental Telephone Company while Troy pursued his engineering degree at Tennessee Polytechnic Institute, now Tennessee Tech.
