Indianland Garden Club: Annual plant auction is May 10 at the Hope Lutheran Church, 4131 Lehigh Drive, Cherryville. Doors open at 6 p.m. and sale begins at 7 p.m. Plants are locally grown and dug from members' gardens. Dotta Auctions will run the auction, and there will be small plants for sale as well. There will also be a raffle and light refreshments available.
Claussville Garden Club: Annual plant auction will be held 7 p.m. May 2 at the Seipstown Grange Hall, 8501 Seipstown Road, Fogelsville. Local plants from garden members include perennials, hostas, daylilies, houseplants and vegetable plants. Zettlemoyer Auction will conduct the event. Profits benefit a club scholarship for a Northwestern Lehigh High School student pursuing Agricultural System Management. A raffle and light refreshments will be available for purchase. Dec 30, 2015Local woman creates coloring book for adults
Gaston County. She spent the last 15 years of her career in administration including work as principal at Cherryville Elementary School. She retired six years ago.
“I just got away from my artistic roots. After I retired, I started to return to them,” Putnam said.
She used “Sketchels” as a way to hone her drawing skills. It had been a while since she had completed any type of serious drawing.
“It was one of those things where someone said, ‘You should do a coloring book.’ After mulling it over for a while, I thought ‘Yeah, I will.’ That’s how quickly it happened,” she said.
