Hazel Weishaar

Julius “Johnny” Weishaar. They wrote letters back and forth, became engaged, and later married in Fort Benton, Mont., on April 29, 1941. Johnny and Hazel moved back to the Weishaar family homestead later in 1941. Their children, Ben, Kenny, Verlyn and Blanche were born while they lived there. They lived for a few years in New Leipzig and in 1960 moved to Hazel's sister’s farm northeast of Lemmon. Their son, Delbert, was born while they lived there. In 1969, they moved to the Markow farm south of Elgin. Johnny passed away in January of 1989 and Hazel continued to live on the farm until she bought a house and moved into Elgin in 1992. She raised a garden and kept up her own lawn, was proud of the flowers by the house, and cooked and canned until she moved into Dakota Hills housing in Elgin in 2008, just a few months before her 90th birthday. She resided at Dakota Hills until Dec. 16, 2015. While there she enjoyed attending the activities, reading, listening to the old-time music, watching dancing on TV, keeping the staff on their toes, and getting visits from friends and relatives, especially grandkids and great-grandkids. Hazel stayed in touch with her children through their lives trying to make sure they had the essentials to succeed in life. She is survived by two sons, Ben (Yvonne) Weishaar and Delbert Weishaar, Elgin; one daughter, Blanche (Rodger) Schumacher, Kintyre; two daughters-in-law, Ardella Weishaar, Bismarck, and Donna Weishaar, Morristown, S.D.; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three sisters, Laura Mosley, Gettysburg, S.D., Gertie Wegner, Golden Valley, and Lucille Miller, Medford, Ore.; a sister-in-law, Alice Trogstad, Lemmon; and numerous nieces and nephews Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Johnny; her sons, Verlyn and Kenny Weishaar; a grandson, Michael Weishaar; a sister, Agnes Molitor; and brothers, Curtis, Clifford and Ernie Trogstad. A memorial has been established by the family. Condolences may be sent through our... (Bismarck Tribune)
