Aruba, and cooking lavish Sunday dinners. Victor believed in tough love, Bruce Springsteen, and his family. He celebrated life, family, and friends at every opportunity. In addition to his loving wife Maureen, he leaves behind to cherish his memory his daughters Allison Padilla, her fiancé Karol Samelko, and Jennifer Padilla; his siblings Awilda Padilla, Naida Padilla, her husband Gerry Konesky, Robert Padilla, and his wife Tracey Padilla; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his mother-in-law and father-in-law Robert Moreno and Patti Moreno of Waterbury, and Anne Ippoilito and Joseph Ippolito also of Waterbury. Victor's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of MidState Medical Center and Masonicare Health Center for the special care and compassion given to Victor. His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. N. Main St. Ext., Saturday, Jan. 18, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Interment will be private. Leslie, of 56 years. She was also predeceased by her brother, Irwin Wenger. Shirley is survived by her three sons, Bruce Daniel, Clifford Daniel (Gigi) and Sanford Daniel (Janis). Also survived by her grandchildren, Aaron and Julia Daniel. Mom was very dedicated to her family and proud of all their accomplishments. She was proud of her Jewish identity. Mom was very enthusiastic about being a native San Franciscan (born and raised), even having walked across the Golden Gate Bridge on the day it opened in 1937. Mom engaged in many activities to keep her mind sharp, including a lifelong love of playing bridge, mahjong and knitting. Services were held Dec. 20 at Home of Peace Cemetery Chapel in Colma. 175 different irises planted at Farm & Ranch Heritage Museum - Las Cruces Sun-News

The process of planting about 175 different types of irises in the raised beds in front of the museum’s Bruce King Building has begun. Led by the Mesilla Valley Iris Society, groups from throughout the state are planting the flowers in preparation for the National Iris Convention that will be in Las Cruces in 2021. The plants should begin to flower this spring, and should be in full bloom for the national show in the spring of 2021. “We are delighted to partner with the Mesilla Valley Iris Society and to serve as the location for one of their Convention Gardens for the 2021 National Iris Convention,” said Farm & Ranch Museum Director Mark Santiago. “Their efforts will not only help beautify the museum’s entryway during the convention, but will continue to serve as a stunning visual reminder of the wonderful variety of New Mexico’s agricultural communities.” Working in conjunction with Farm & Ranch Museum landscaper Alfredo Hernandez and others on the staff, soil was brought in for the flowers and a watering system was installed. Members of the local iris society have worked for days preparing the beds and planting the flowers. Farm & Ranch is one of six locations in Las Cruces the irises are being planted in preparation for the national convention. Irises have been sent to Las Cruces from as far away as Massachusetts and Washington. “There’s such a huge variety and with so many colors and patterns,” said Scarlett Ayers, co-chair for the national show and regional vice-president. “They should begin blooming in mid-March.” The museum began planning the project with Howie Dash, president of the Mesilla Valley Iris Soci...
