John O'Bar

John F. O’Bar, 66, of Booneville passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, in the Booneville hospital. He was a U.S. Postal Service worker, a master sergeant Marine serving in the Vietnam War, a member of Our Lady of Assumption Church and his grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader. Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church in Booneville with burial at Liberty Cemetery under the direction of McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood. Viewing and visitation will be 5 p.m. today at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, with rosary recited at 6 p.m. He is survived by his wife, Dede of the home; Ben O’Bar and wife Jaime of Olive Branch, Miss., Jacob O’Bar and wife Chasity of Fort Smith, and Joseph O’Bar and wife Kimberly of Booneville; two daughters, Becky O’Bar of Booneville and Dee Simpson and husband Daniel of Booneville; one brother, Clyde O’Bar of Rio Rancho, N.M.; two sisters, Barbara Smith of Memphis, and Carolyn Murphy of Seattle; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
