Feb 3, 2016TJ's Floral and Gifts now open in downtown Walker
Realty, opened Feb. 1 with a full range of floral products and services plus unique gift items.
Inspired by her passion for flowers, Teah studied at Central Lakes College in Brainerd, enrolling in the floral design program that included courses in horticulture, greenhouse, nursery and floral design.
She also gained hands-on experience during the eight years she worked at Northern Lakes Floral and Garden Center in Walker, which closed recently.
At that point Teah decided to open her own business.
TJ’s Floral can provide floral arrangements for weddings, funerals, birthdays, proms, and other special and everyday events. Cut flowers are available, either wrapped or arranged in a vase, plus a variety of house plants, including specialty items like succulents and air plants.
Delivery is available within the Leech Lake area, including Walker, Hackensack, Akeley, Longville, Laporte-Benedict and Cass Lake.
Teah can arrange out-of-town floral deliveries by calling a florist in the town or city specified.
Gift items include flower pot covers, greeting cards, and home decor and accessories such as Root Candles, “The best candle in America,” made of beeswax in Medina, Ohio, since 1869.
The store will also stock handcrafted Laketown Chocolates, made for the past 30 years in Waconia, Minn. Other merchandise may also be added.

Hitchins said the storefront's proximity to the bustling Belmont ''L'' station and the central Lakeview density that "sold" him. Across the street, Home Run Inn opened in October, and Beef Shack opened this month down the street.
Up next is Blackwood BBQ, which will be opening in the next couple weeks in the former Einstein Bros. Bagel corner spot.
"This whole end of the street is new," Hitchins said. "This corner of Belmont and Sheffield is always happening."
