Out & About: Annapolis is full of flowers, festivals and sailboat races

Galway Bay and Harry Browne's offer bistro dining, and Galway Bay provides outdoor live music from noon until 5:00 p.m. including The Eastport Oyster Boys. If you cannot walk there, take advantage of free parking at the state garage located at Calvert and St. John's Streets. From noon until 5 p.m., the first of the First Sunday Arts Festivals takes place along West St. Enjoy live entertainment and the works of 100 local and regional artists as you stroll along the first block of West and Calvert Streets next to the Whitmore parking garage. Local restaurants set up outside cafes that are perfect for people watching and an afternoon bite to eat. Free parking for the family-friendly event is available at the state parking garage on the corner of Calvert and Bladen Streets. Sunday at dusk, The 1747 Pub at Reynolds' Tavern (7 Church Circle) will host its popular Classics in the Courtyard. These outdoor screenings of classic movies are always a good way to spend a Sunday evening. Full menu is available during the screening and the evening is dog and family friendly. Admission is free. Whether you watch from land, sea, or air, this long-standing Annapolis tradition is a wonderful way to spend a Wednesday night. From land, the deck at Carroll's Creek or the windows at Chart House in Eastport offer perfect vantage points. But the start and finish are free to watch from the Spa Creek Bridge too. By sea (bay), you can be a part of the action every Wednesday night as two 74-foot wooden schooners, Woodwind & Woodwind II, compete. Help the crew or sit back and watch over 130 racing sailboats all around you! Cruises depart from the Annapolis Waterfront Hotel at 5:30 p.m. and return at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $44/adult, $27/child under 12. and include a soft drink and snack.
