Brotherly Love: The Happy Flower Day Project - CBS Philly

WORCESTER, Pa. (CBS) — For years, a Montgomery County woman has been spreading random acts of flowering. Trisha Gallagher’s car smells fresh as a rose — make that a lot of roses and daisies and more. “My car always smells delightful,” she said. Gallagher, who lives in Worcester, rescues flowers from plant purgatory. She got the idea six years ago, with her mom, Claire Mohan and friend Bob. Credit: CBS3 “And somehow the thought came to me to approach grocery stores and ask if I could pick up their day-old flowers,” Gallagher said. Some said yes, and the Happy Flower Day Project was born. Several times a week, friendly (and anonymous) florists fill Gallagher’s car. Brotherly Love: Stroke Victim Becomes Beacon Of Hope For Patients “And then I just say, ‘God, where do you want these flowers to go to? Who needs them?'” Gallagher said. “And a thought will enter in my mind, like an AIDS hospice, a nursing home.” On this day, they’re destined for Wesley Enhanced Living in Germantown. It’s one...

Frederick Costello Obituary - Lee, MA | The Berkshire Eagle - Legacy.com

Fred graduated from Lee High School and earned a BS from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he majored in chemical engineering and pursued football, Greek life, and of course, his girlfriend Nancy, to whom he proposed before graduating. Fred and Nancy went on to raise six children while Fred led a long and accomplished career with Union Carbide. The family lived in six states and Fred especially enjoyed the years he spent in Hong Kong and Tokyo. After their children were grown, Fred and Nancy settled in Washington, CT, where on Sundays you could hear Fred, a skilled tenor, singing hymns from the balcony at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Music infused Fred's life, whether he was listening to the Boston Pops with his family on a picnic blanket under the stars at Tanglewood, or leading his children in song while he played the autoharp. His children and many grandchildren inherited Fred's love of music, and no family gathering was complete unless children and adults of all ages were singing and performing. In retirement, Fred and Nancy moved to Bonita Springs, FL where Fred served as President of WPI's Alumni Association and on the boards of Benjamin Moore, Bonita Springs Center for the Arts, and Bonita Springs Community Foundation, among others. The couple continued to travel the country in order to welcome the latest additions to their ever-growing family, which would eventually include 20 grandchildren and one great grandchild. During these trips, "Pop" loved to work night patrol so that weary parents could rest; cradling wailing newborns in his arms for hours on end, gently singing them to sleep. As his grandchildren grew, Pop continued to wrap them in bear hugs and "I love yous" and he treasured nothing more than fishing with them off the dock at Greenwater Pond or on cruises around Bonita Bay. Fred is survived by his loving wife Nancy and the...

His kidneys benefited two men, ages 23 and 47."It was a really important decision we made when he passed," she added. "Evan was a very caring and loving child. He'd be pleased."Rogersr described Evan as an "odd duck" with a taste for meatloaf as well as sushi."He was just, happy, fun-loving," she said, as Brayden listened. NYC, Fruit & Flowers, recently set sail for the UK for the first time, where they hit the stage at a dozen venues in cities like Leeds, Worcester, Brighton, and London. Luckily for us, the surf noir four-piece documented their travels in an epic recap vid, which includes hotel hangs, onstage debauchery, rides through the countryside (so. many. sheep), and, yes, bar fights. Check out how the band-Caroline(bass/lead vox), Ana (lead guitar/vox), Rachel (rhythm guitar/vox), Jose (Drums)-lived their best life across the pond below, then click here to listen to their debut EP, Drug Tax!
