Flowers of Hope campaign supports Alzheimer’s walk - MPNnow.com

WHAM anchor Norma Holland Mann, a board member of the Alzheimer’s Association, are spearheading the campaign.Walk volunteers David Gruszczynski, of Webster; Ron Martino of Spencerport; and Riesa Cassano and Patrick Sloan, of Pittsford, with support from Michel Cassagnol from the Knights of Columbus, are helping McGuire and Holland Mann spray-paint Promise Garden flowers on the driveways and sidewalks of the those participating in the campaign.McGuire lost her father to Alzheimer’s dementia; Holland Mann lost her grandmother to dementia and her father-in-law to Alzheimer’s dementia.“I joined the Walk to let my father know we are not giving up on his determination to find a cure,” McGuire said. “It was difficult to witness and live through my father’s disease. For every ounce of despair I felt, my participation in the Walk melted it away and made me feel I wasn’t alone. I continue to walk and raise money to help the incredible community of scientists find a treatment and a cure.”“For many folks, myself included, Walk is about hope,” Holland Mann said. “We raise money and walk, because we are faithful and hopeful that there will be a cure in our lifetime.”Every year on Walk day, participants honor those affected by Alzheimer's or another dementia with blue, yellow, purple and orange Promise Garden flowers. Monroe County NY crime: Kittelberger Florist van stolen during delivery - Rochester Democrat and Chronicle

Grand larceny: On Jan. 5, a man delivering flowers for Kittelberger Florist of Webster left his green 2009 Chevrolet Express van running. A man, who appeared to be in his late 20s, jumped inside the van and took off. Harassment: Two women became "irate" on Jan. 5 after a clerk at a store at the Mall at Greece Ridge asked if they planned to purchase items that their children appeared to be concealing. Burglary: On Jan. 8, someone damaged a shed to gain entry on Churchill Drive North and stole a red 28-inch Craftsman snowblower. It is valued at $1,050. There is no video in the area. IRONDEQUOIT Attempted burglary: On Jan. 14, a resident of Portland Avenue reported that he spotted a suspicious male leaving the back door of a nearby vacant house. Police found a bloodied broken window on the rear garage door of the property. Petit larceny: On Jan. 14, gift cards, cleaning supplies, a car charger and lug nut locks were stolen from a vehicle parked on Culver Road. OGDEN Grand larceny: On Jan. 3, a Manitou Road resident said two pistols were missing. There were no signs of forced entry at the home. Petit larceny: On Jan. 5, a Whittier Road resident said someone stole the keys for a vehicle he is currently selling. He said two people showed up to look at the car. Once the people left, the victim realized the keys were gone. Grand larceny: On Jan. 7, someone stole a check out of a mailbox on Black Forest Drive and cashed it.

Campbell Horticultural Society celebrates 90 years with annual flower show and tea

The next decade, Princess Elizabeth Marries Duke of Edinburgh, was small design, not to exceed 5.5 inches by 10 inches in any direction, and Beverly Webster took first place. She also won Best in Class for a red rose, single bloom, as well as in the three beets class.Seija Bailey is pictured with her first place floral arrangement in the Pot et Fleur section specials at the Campbell Horticultural Society 90th anniversary flower show and tea. Ms. Bailey also won the People's Choice Award.photos by Betty Bardswich- Advertisement -The decade from 1948-1957 was titled Elvis Presley and was free style design. Seija Bailey arranged the winning model, and she also won the People's Choice Award for this beautiful design.The years 1958 to 1967, the First Episode of Star Trek, was for synergistic design, that is, several containers in a composition, and Penny Palonen took top honours, while Camilla Yahake won first prize for a heart-shaped wreath in the First Heart Transplant decade of 1968 to 1977.The next decade, dubbed The Terry Fox Run, was for youth only and was won by Camilla Finley. This design had to be done in a running shoe using wildflowers and grasses.Section 7 of the specials was the First Noted Greenhouse effect for the years 1988 to 1997, and the design was pot et fleur, that is, a potted plant with cut flowers. Seija Bailey also took first prize in this category.Queen Elizabeth's Jubilee, from 1998 to 2007, was marked by a mass design category which means the floral arrangement had to be a large quantity of plant material arranged in a closed silhouette with few or no voids. This section was won by Camilla Yahnke who also won in the Our Modern World special section. Ms. Yahnke won the President's Choice Award for this arrangement. Beast's Naomi Pomeroy Opens... A Flower Shop?
