Pick your own flower bouquet at the Stevens-Coolidge Place

All coupons this year will be distributed beginning at 8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at senior centers in Billerica, Dracut, Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, Methuen and Newburyport. If you live in one of those cities, you must get your coupons at your center. For instance, Methuen residents would get their coupons at the Methuen Senior Activity Center, 77 Lowell St.Coupons will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis until they are gone. Unused coupons will result in the Merrimack Valley receiving fewer coupons next year, so recipients are asked to make every effort to use them.Proof of residency – such as a phone or electric bill that shows your name and address – is required to receive the Merrimack Valley coupons. Recipients must sign a statement that saying they are 60 or older, live in the Merrimack Valley, and that their income is not higher than the following levels: $1,860 per month for a one-person household; $2,504 per month for a two-person household; $3,149 per month for a three-person household; and $3,793 per month for a four-person household.Auction to benefit Nevins libraryMETHUEN — There will be an upcoming silent auction at Nevins Memorial Library to support the programs and activities on the Methuen Senior Activity Center.The silent auction will including beautiful, hand-made items that are knitted, crocheted and sewn, as well as paintings, ceramics, photography and woodwork. Stop by the library, 305 Broadway, during that time to bid on items.Home repair program offered for seniorsLAWRENCE — The Greater Lawrence Community Action Council (GLCAC) Inc. is now accepting applications for Project SENIOR, a free home safety repair program for seniors living in Andover, Lawrence, Methuen and North Andover.Project SENIOR helps those ages 60 or older live safely in their homes by fixing common safety problems that can lead to injury, including: broken steps, decks or ramps; missing or loose handrails; no grab bars in a shower or bathroom; clutter that poses tripping hazards or blocks an egress; and malfunctioning bathroom fans.The program is funded by Wells Fargo and is a collaboration between the GLCAC and the Lawrence Community Development Department. ONE FOR NH LAX In case you missed it, Pinkerton boys lacrosse took on Billerica -- currently ranked No. 7 in Massachusetts by ESPN Boston -- in a battle of state powers on Wednesday and left no debate as to who was the better side. The defending New Hampshire Division 1 state champions crushed the Indians 20-12, getting seven goals and three assists from James Tulley, plus four goals and an assist from Ryan Auger. Pinkerton followed that up with a 16-1 victory over Manchester Central on Thursday, improving the Astros to 5-0 going into their big weekend showdown with archrival Londonderry. Tough day at Coaches Cup Elsewhere in the local lacrosse scene, Andover and North Andover both ran into trouble during the second day of the Coaches Cup. No. 15 Andover suffered its first loss of the season in the tournament semifinals, losing 13-8 to No. 20 Winchester, and North Andover dropped its consolation game to No. 11 Hingham. Eileen (Marshall) Crear, 58, Formerly of Tewksbury

Eileen began her career as an assistant to Fr. Bourque at the Franco-American School in Lowell, and had also worked at Eastern Video in Billerica before becoming an Administrative Assistant for Merrimack Education Center in Billerica.More from Tewksbury Patch She was active with her sons in the Northern Middlesex Hockey League, and was an avid fan of the Boston Bruins. She was also deeply interested in genealogy and enjoyed taking trips with her family to Newport, RI, Florida and the White Mountains. Eileen will be remembered for her cherished role as wife, mother to her beloved sons and devoted grandmother.Eileen’s family would like to thank Dr. Blair Ardman, M.D. for his compassion, care, and friendship during her treatment and therapy.Besides her husband and mother, she leaves her boys, Aaron T. Crear and his companion Kelly Pang of Lowell and Andrew T. and his wife Lisa (Bissett) Crear of Pepperell; her beloved grandsons, Rion and Egan Crear; her siblings, Michael and his wife Janet (Sutherby) Marshall of Hudson, NH, Lois and her husband Steven Goodell of Tewksbury, and Maureen Marshall of Lowell; As well as much extended family.
