Revved Up: Antique car show set for weekend in Houma

Packards, Studebakers and DeLoreans are just some of the classic automobiles that will be on display at this year's meet.</p><p>Houma-Thibodaux's Lagniappe Chapter of the Antique Automobile Club of America will host the event.</p><p>"On display in the Civic Center lobby will be a Bour-Davis, the only automobile manufactured in Louisiana," Fred Duplechin told the Courier and Daily Comet.</p><p>Duplechin is the AACA Fall Meet chairman and member of the Lagniappe Chapter. He's been part of the organization for 15 years.</p><p>This event will mark 38 years since a Louisiana chapter hosted a national meet.</p><p>"We don't often get events of this kind," Duplechin said. "It's an opportunity to showcase Louisiana and show them the cultural and environmental business and people of Louisiana."</p><p>Members will show their cars off throughout the three-day event and qualify for junior and senior division awards. The senior division award winner will qualify for grand nationals, which highlights the finest cars in the AACA. </p><p>Duplechin mentioned that there will be 110 highly trained judges from around the nation. </p><p>"Some will bring their own cars and others are simply there to judge," the chairman said. "They just love classic cars."</p><p>There will be children's booths where youth can understand car parts, play on race tracks and get their faces painted.</p><p>Lagniappe members organize...
