Helen M. Koeppen. Survivors include: a sister, Connie L. Gray, Longview, Wash., wife Deborah M. Koeppen, Tumwater, Wash., daughters Adele S. Dowlin, Oakdale, Calif., and Evelyn R. Hall, Fayetteville, NC. Grandchildren include: Carson and Isabelle Dowlin; Connor and Cayleigh Hall. He has numerous nieces and nephews. Dennis graduated from R. A. Long High School, Longview, WA. in 1960. Dennis enjoyed music and playing guitar, particularly Country and Rhythm and Blues. He enjoyed jamming with his longtime friend, Dan Whyms, who performed in a Johnny Cash Tribute Show around the world. Dan remained a close friend until the road for Dennis ended. Family and friends remember Dennis as a positive and upbeat person. He always seemed to discover the plus side of seemingly negative obstacles and challenges we all face in life. His faith beliefs kept him hopeful and trusting that the future will be glorious and eternal in Jesus Christ our Lord. Due to Covid restrictions we were unable to hold a large gathering. The family is planning to hold a Celebration of Life gathering near Dennis's Birthday in August 2021. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.Published by The Daily News on Oct. 13, 2020.

Oct 27, 2016These gardeners had their roses ripped out by the council with no notice
Gardens (FEG) meet once a month to maintain the trees, plants and shrubs in the park in South Woodford.
They also invite children from nearby schools Oakdale and Churchfields to plant crocuses in the gardens every autumn, so they can see the blossom in the spring.
This year children from Oakdale planted their crocuses around the existing rose bushes in Elmhurst Gardens on October 3.
But in the week that followed, chairman Kathie Teahan got an email from the council's park managers Vision Redbridge Culture & Leisure to say the roses had gone.
Ms Teahan, a Gordon Road resident of 20 years, said: “They said they had taken away the roses and were going to replace them with two cherry trees and some border plants because they’re easier to maintain.
“When we looked for ourselves, we were puzzled and upset to see they were right.
“Contractors had come and taken them away without telling us.
“They just left a hole in the middle of where the children planted their bulbs.”
The FEG chairman said she was disappointed Vision, the council-run charity that manages Redbridge’s green spaces, had not consulted her.
She added: “They know we are a very active group – they should have told us.
“I even went to a meeting with them in September and they said nothing about it.”

TD runs of 1 and 8 yards as the Bulldogs shocked the daylights out of West Holt, 56-14.
After being blown out by Neligh-Oakdale 72-44 in the season opener, Creighton has beaten West Boyd 76-0, then the West Holt blowout. Zimmerer’s 3 game rushing total stands at 384 yards and 5 TDs.
This Creighton bunch looks like a State Championship team to me right now. Remember, Neligh-Oakdale is not eligible for the Class D-1 playoffs this fall.
*Ryan Neumann-Creighton - Neumann is the man that directs this potent Creighton attack and the key to a title run. In that manhandling of West Holt, the 6-0, 180 pound senior hit on 12 of 15 passes for 186 yards and 4 touchdowns, all in the 1st half. Tyler Stubben caught 2 of Neumann’s scoring tosses (42, 9 yards) while Tyler Lilly snared the remaining two TD receptions covering 10 and 8 yards.
This Neumann dude is athletic, mobile and very intelligent.

Jul 27, 2016Oakdale's Acorn Awards bloom again
Drive through any Oakdale neighborhood during the summer months and you will see many properties with lovely flowerbeds, shrubs and trees. But there are always a few that really stand out.
Oakdale’s annual Acorn Awards recognize those properties that are landscaped exceptionally well.
The Oakdale Garden Club members check out the nominated properties and select the winners. The goal is to single out property owners who go above and beyond typical maintenance standards and practices.
The Acorn Award recipients receive a gift card from an area nursery and a visit from the Oakdale City Council. An Acorn Award sign is also posted in their yard for several weeks.
This year there were 14 properties nominated for Acorn Awards, according to Jane Klein, president of the Oakdale Gardening Club and Oakdale Tree Board chair.
She explained that the number of nominations was up from last year, which she believes is because a growing percentage of Oakdale homeowners are new retirees and choosing to pick up gardeni... (Lillie News)
