The Highlands first-ever garden festival is being staged next weekend at the stunning Inverness Botanic Gardens as it celebrates its silver anniversary.
As the attraction enjoys its milestone 25th year, it will step into the history books by hosting the first Highland Garden Fest on Sunday July 22.
Gardening enthusiasts are being invited along to the event at Inverness Botanic Gardens, which first opened its doors in 1993 to provide an oasis of calm and beauty on the outskirts of the bustling city.
The festival will celebrate everything from nurturing flowers to growing fruit and vegetables, landscaping and attracting wildlife to your garden.
Ewan Mackintosh, manager of the gardens' Nursery and GROW Project, said he was "delighted" to be hosting the first Highland Garden Festival.

Omaha architect Thomas Rogers Kimball, who designed St. Cecilia’s Cathedral for the Archdiocese of Omaha. Some of his other work includes the Burlington Station, St. Frances Cabrini Church and buildings at the Trans-Mississippi Exposition.The event also will honor the American Institute of Architects, Nebraska Chapter.Sponsored by the Cathedral Arts Project, the festival will be set up in the sanctuary and side rooms at the Cathedral, 710 N. 40th St., on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.More than 30 area florists have created displays for the free event. Patrons also can see a permanent exhibit about Kimball in the Sheehan History Museum in the Cathedral Cultural Center adjacent to the church. Omaha author and historian Joni Fogarty will speak about Kimball and his work at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the cultural center.Soup, sandwiches and treats from Wheatfields will be for sale, and area organists, vocalists and musicians will perform throughout both days.?
