Flowers dropped on Upland porches are ‘random acts of kindness’ amid coronavirus crisis - Inland Valley Daily Bulletin

James Russell, vice president of wholesale operations for Armstrong Growers, was sick of throwing out product. As a nonessential business, his retail centers are closed during the coronavirus pandemic and ornamental flowers are going into the trash bin.Last weekend he had an idea. He got in his truck and began dropping off flower baskets at homes around his neighborhood. All told, he left 28 colorful flower arrays on porches in Upland. “I love Upland,” he said on Friday, April 24. “The houses are so beautiful here. So my wife and I have been going around dropping off flowers.” Flowers were dropped off at random homes in Upland last weekend. Obituary: Elizabeth Lee 'Betty' Thomas, 76, St. Francis - Nelson County Gazette

Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at Signature at Colonial Healthcare and Rehab in Bardstown. She was born Nov. 24, 1942, in Lancaster, Penn., to the late Russell Hugh and Naomi Forton Burke. She formerly worked as a waitress at Cedarwood Restaurant in Lebanon and was a member of the Catholic faith. She loved her flowers and gardening. She was preceded in death by one son, Mark Thomas. Survivors include one daughter, Cynthia Blanford (Dean) of St. Francis; one son, Chuck Thomas (Rose) of Glen Burnie, Md.; one brother, Russell Burke (Louise) of Georgia; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with Deacon Joseph R. Dant officiating. Cremation to follow services. The original owner’s of the business were Henry and Ella Heckelman. They retired and sold the business to Russell and Kathy Barnett, of Willard, in 1974 after running the business for 40 years. Russell Barnett died in 2014. Last year, Colonial Flower Shoppe at 7 W. Main St. closed after nearly three decades of dedicated floral work in Norwalk. The owners, Bill and Bobbi Taylor, retired. Wakeman welcomes new nurse practitioner Allison Ringle joined Fisher-Titus Family Medicine-Wakeman as a nurse practitioner. She will be joining Dr. Christina Canfield and nurse practitioner Amanda Horn. Ringle has experience as a registered nurse with Blossom Healthcare Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in Willard and in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Toledo Children’s Hospital.
