Marisol Pulido placed first in the Class 5A 148-pound class with a total of 940 pounds, followed by teammate Lizeth De la Fuente at 935. Conroe Caney Creek's Bre Haesche was third with a total of 915 pounds.In the 4A meet, Biggers placed second in the 165-pound class and Avila was third in the 132 class.Biggers lifted 400 in the squat, 175 in the bench and 405 in the deadlift to finish with a three-lift total of 980 pounds — 140 behind winner Kiana Lopez of Crystal City.Avila, meanwhile, had a 350-pound squat, a 185-pound bench and a 315-pound deadlift for an 850-pound total. Sommer Stanley put the Lady Highlanders up 1-0 with a goal off a free kick in the 12th minute. Grace Piper made it 2-0 with a header and Kate McCullough scored her sixth goal of the season off a corner to make it a 3-1 game. Mansfield rallied to make it 3-2 in the second half, but The Woodlands held on for the win. The Lady Highlanders are 1-0-1 for the weekend and will play the reigning state champions Coppell Saturday. BOYS SOCCER John Tyler 3, Oak Ridge 1 Logan Aucoin tied the game at 1-1 with his goal in the second half before the Lions scored two unanswered goals for the win. Caney Creek Wine owner Rebecca Gayle said, “I hope he is wrong!!” Crockett's Terri Brown Meadows said snow is on its way, eventually. “I think he's wrong, because I have asked God for snow, and I'm expecting to see some!” Former Grapeland resident Jonathan Miles, who now resides in Little Rock, Ark., said, “Punxsutawney Phil for Prez 2016!” Palestine lawyer and roving photographer Stuart Whitaker said, “I'm with the groundhog; it's an early spring.” And Dustin Corns of Grapeland predicted, “Winter is just late this year.
