Hit the garden this Earth Day!

WTHI Photo) White Violet Center hosts "A Taste of White Violet Center Open Garden Walk." TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WTHI) – With Friday being Earth Day, there’re several ways you at home can get involved in helping and caring for our planet. One way is getting outside, getting your hands dirty and planting flowers. With the weather warming up, conditions are prime for you to get out and start digging in your gardens and flower beds. With that being said, expect local greenhouses and nurseries to be hot spots this weekend. Looking for more information before you hit the garden? Click here and here. Share this: Advertisement ... Lost Creek students give back to the Earth on its day

The fruit trees were planted last year by the Lost Creek Explorers as a project supported by the India Association of Terre Haute. The India Association also hosted a celebration for the project, and donated $1,000 so that a fence could be erected to keep the abundant deer population in the area from chewing on the new trees and plants. Bitzegaio said the Explorers meet each week for science activities, do projects or take trips. On Friday, student council members helped with the planting project, because the student council had supplied funding to purchase the flowers. While the students were aware that Friday was Earth Day, Bitzegaio said teachers have not had a lot of time lately to talk about the environment because they are involved in the statewide ISTEP testing.
