Every Loving Bloom opens in St. Bethlehem

The big grand opening is set for Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. "I've been in the florist business for almost 20 years, and about five years ago I started thinking about wanting my own place," Liford said. Another veteran florist with almost 30 years to her credit, Kathy Biter, helped Liford along the way, and the new business creation at 110 Fairview Lane now lives by the motto, "If you can describe it, I can design it." "With the support of my family and friends, this has come about," Liford said, "and I am grateful for each and every one of them." Services at Every Loving Bloom include fresh-cut flowers, silk plants, gift baskets, wreaths, any funeral needs, balloons, stuffed animals and more. From yoga rooms to calming colors, reflective spaces on the rise in home decor

India. Narang, a Howard County oncologist, asked Appler and Rosenthal to build a small prayer room on the first floor of his new home in Clarksville. Narang said he does not consider himself religious, but he and his wife wanted the room so they could teach their children about their families' Hindu and Sikh beliefs. As it turns out, Narang and his wife use the room several times a week for quiet meditation. "I go in there and enclose myself," he said. "It's very cozy." Interior designer Lisa Malveaux tapped into homeowners' desire for a peaceful space when she created a yoga room in last year's Baltimore Symphony Decorators' Show House in Guilford. She painted the ceiling to resemble a sky with white, puffy clouds and furnished the room with plush pillows and a beanbag chair. Lavender incense, soft lighting and recorded sounds of the ocean added to the soothing atmosphere. "I wanted to engage the whole person in a room and really engage the senses as well," Malveaux said. One of the experts she consulted before designing the room was Hilary Brich, who runs Gogo Guru, a yoga studio in Ellicott City. For homeowners interested in creating a yoga room or meditation space, Brich recommends keeping the area as plain as possible and using a white-noise machine to drown out surrounding sounds. An altar or table with family photographs, fresh flowers or a small fountain can provide a focal point, she said. "The whole point of getting peace in your life is having less thinking going on and finding that peaceful presence inside," she said. Mei Xu, founder of the Maryland-based Blissliving Home design collection and Chesapeake Bay Candle in Glen Burnie, said she tries to retreat to her yoga room several times a week. Located in the attic of her home in Bethesda, the room is bare except for an exercise bar and a painting with the Chinese character meaning "peace" on the wall. Former MCSO Investigator Larry Hodge died

Larry Hodge(Photo: Contributed) CLARKSVILLE, TN – Thirty year veteran with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, Investigator Larry Hodge, 55, has passed away. Hodge is the son of an Air Force veteran and grew up all over the world. As a child he rose to the rank of Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in 1978 and shortly thereafter settled in Clarksville with his family. Hodge joined the Sheriff’s Office in 1986. He started his career in the Patrol Division. In 1996 he was promoted to Investigator. During his career at the Sheriff’s Office Hodge received numerous letters of commendation from educators, clergy, military officials, Sheriff’s from neighboring agencies, and local citizens. He was known for his tireless dedication, attention to detail, and expert courtroom testimony. Hodge’s dedication to work was only surpassed by his dedication to his family. Students donate perennials in Lake City

The group brought around 450 plants to hand out to locals. Since starting PFP, they’ve visited Parkersburg twice, as well as Mapleton, Creston, Clarksville and Muscatine. Boss said the chapter raises money for PFP by holding a fruit, meat and cheese sales every year to go along with other fundraising projects. Murray couldn’t make the trip to Lake City this year, but student teacher Kiley Barg said the eight or nine varieties of perennials on display were grown in the school greenhouse last spring. Columbines, chest daisies and persian violets seemed to be some of the more popular varieties being handed out. “It’s great what they’re doing,” Barb Benz of Lake City said, “It’s giving back. Company: Clarksville among top 10 cities for Valentine's flowers

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – If a new study is any indication, being a florist in Clarksville is a very good business decision – especially this time of year. The study by Giftblooms.com concluded that some of the most romantic people in America are in – yes, that’s right – Clarksville, Tennessee, which currently ranks among the top 10 North American cities for its Valentine’s Day flower orders. “GiftBlooms.com decided to dig into their data from last Valentine’s Day and see which cities in North America ordered the most flowers,” said a news release. “They have revealed the top 10 cities they delivered flowers to last year, and some of the results might surprise you.” Not surprisingly, New York City came top of the league, with 15.58 percent of all the bouquets tracked going to the Big Apple. “It seems like busy New Yorkers can definitely find the time to buy a bouquet for their loved ones,” the company said.
