7Everyday Hero Lauren Anderson paints flower bouquets for patients staying in the hospital - The Denver Channel

DENVER — Painting has always been a sanctuary for Lauren Anderson. It's a colorful escape when life gets too dark. And now, she's sharing her gift to help others.Anderson was volunteering for UCHealth University of Colorado Hospital when she discovered many patients who were sent flowers couldn't keep them in their rooms."It just made me really sad to think if I were in the hospital and somebody I loved and who loved me sent me something like that and I couldn’t enjoy it, how upsetting that would be," she said. Then she thought of something — maybe there was a way for those patients to enjoy those creations. So she went to volunteer coordinator Jenny Ricklefs with an idea."She’s an artist and she thought that she could potentially paint those flower arrangements and give the painting to the patient because they couldn’t have the flowers," Ricklefs said. "Since that day, she's been painting beautiful watercolor bouquets." She said on Mother's Day, Anderson did one painting that went to a patient in a unit for individuals with COVID-19. "The pa...

'Place between heaven and earth:' Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland delivers flower ministry - Clarion Ledger

This place is a place between heaven and earth. The people here are angels,” said Liz Anderson of Ridgeland, a volunteer who in the blink of an eye can take the flowers donated by Fresh Market in Ridgeland and four Kroger stores in Ridgeland, Madison and Flowood and arrange them so they brighten anyone’s day. More than 100 volunteers, 130 employees, and community leaders play key roles at Hospice Ministries, which has existed for three decades, said Suzannah Britt, executive director of Hospice Ministries. To commemorate its 30th anniversary, a celebration and open house is scheduled on Oct. 17 from 5-7 p.m. at the Ridgeland campus, 450 Towne Center. A brief program at 6 p.m. will include remarks by Dr. Gerry Ann Houston, chief medical director and president of the Hospice Ministries Board. A patient suite recently remodeled thanks to funding by the Selby and Richard McRae Foundation will be open for anyone to visit. Houston, an oncologist, and Dan H.
