Chocolatier creates flower-inspired dress made to eat for Chocolate Show

A chocolatier has combined cooking with craft to create a real showstopper for National Chocolate Week. Caitlin Paxton, of Paxton Chocolate, in Marine Terrace Mews in Kemp Town, Brighton, designed and made the flower-inspired dress for the Chocolate Show to be held at Kensington Olympia later this week. The design consists of a sculpted bodice, decorated with a combination of large and small discs of chocolate with digitally printed flowers in red, orange and pink. It has been finished off with gold leaf. It has been designed to be worn on the catwalk – but not for too long as it is likely to start melting. Ms Paxton used 800 of Paxton Chocolate’s delicate signature hand-made thin discs to decorate the figure-hugging, one-shoulder dress, which has a material underlay that was painted with chocolate. While it may seem an unusual move for a chocolatier to channel their talent into fashion, it is not the first time Paxton Chocolate has taken part. Ms Paxton said: “Last year we created a flapper-style dress for the fashion show, but this year we wanted to go for something that was really eye-... (The Argus)

Temperatures will be in the mid-70's with humidity values hovering around 75 percent.CHEERLEADER WAR: ABOUT THE BRONCOS (4-1 SU, 4-1 ATS, 3-2 O/U): Although the quarterback situation has been answered for Thursday, Denver still has many questions regarding its running game after it failed to exploit the Falcons' 30th-ranked defense. C.J. Anderson has been unable to top 50 yards rushing in any of the last three games and mustered just three carries longer than four yards last week heading into a clash with the league's eighth-best rushing defense (83.4 yards per contest). Demaryius Thomas has found the end zone in each of his last three games overall and had a touchdown reception in each of his last three meetings with San Diego.ABOUT THE CHARGERS (1-4 SU, 3-2 ATS, 4-1 O/U): Rivers (NFL fourth-best 1,469 yards) is at the controls of the league's second-ranked offense (30.4 points) and recorded his second four-touchdown performance of the season on Sunday, but four turnovers proved too much to overcome. Former first-round selection Melvin Gordon has struggled to find the handle on the ball, fumbling for the second time in as many weeks on Sunday and eighth time in 19 career games. "(Gordon) can't put the ball on the ground," coach Mike McCoy said via the San Diego Union-Tribune. "(His) fumbles won't affect his usa... (

CARDINALS 9, PIRATES 7 PITTSBURGH (AP) — Matt Carpenter, Randal Grichuk and Jhonny Peralta all homered off closer Tony Watson with two outs in the ninth inning, helping St. Louis rally past Pittsburgh. The Cardinals were down to their last strike when Carpenter sent a long drive to right-center to tie it 6-6. Grichuk followed two batters later with a two-run shot off Watson (2-4), and Peralta piled on with a solo homer as St. Louis held on to the second wild card in the NL. Carpenter's homer was the 15th by a St. Louis pinch-hitter this season, a major league record. Yadier Molina went 4 for 5, including a first-inning grand slam. Mike Mayers (1-1) tossed a scoreless eighth for the win, and Seung-Hwan Oh worked around a solo homer to Jung Ho Kang in the ninth for his 16th save. ROYALS 10, TWINS 3 MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Kendrys Morales had two home runs, including a three-run blast in Kansas City's seven-run ninth inning. Morales hit a two-run shot in the first to help the Royals overcome the loss of catcher Salvador Perez, who left the game with a right wrist contusion after he was hit by a pitch in the sixth inning. Brian Dozier hit his 39th home run of the season for the Twins, moving him into a tie with Rogers Hornsby (twice) and Alfonso Soriano for fourth-most home runs by a second baseman in a season. He has homered in five straight games, tying Harmon Killebrew and Marty Cordova for the longest streak in Twins history. Former Twin Drew Butera's bases loaded single off Brandon Kintzler (0-2) broke a 3-3 tie and got the Royals rolling in the ninth. Kelvin Herrera (2-4) pitched one inning for the win. WHITE SOX 2, TIGERS 0 CHICAGO (AP) — Jose Abreu hit his fifth homer in seven games, Miguel Gonzalez came off the disabled list to throw 6 1/3 innings of six-hit ball and Chicago cooled off Detroit. Abreu connected off Matt Boyd (5-3) in the second for his 23rd homer as Chicago got its third win in nine games. Gonzalez (3-6) struck out four in his first start since Aug. 11 following a groin injury. GIANTS 3, ROCKIES 2 DENVER (AP) — Kelby Tomlinson hit a one-out, tiebreaking single in the ninth and San Francisco rallied to beat Colorado. Javier Lopez (1-2) got one out in the eighth to earn the win. Santiago Casilla pitched the ninth for his 31st save. He got Gerardo Parra to hit into a double play to end the game. Buster Posey began the top of the ninth by hitting a grounder to shortstop Daniel Descalso, who overthrew first baseman Parra and allowed Posey to cruise into second. Hunter Pence followed with an infield single off closer Adam Ottavino (0-2), who was then replaced by lefty Boone Logan. After Brandon Crawford struck out, Tomlinson lined an 0-2 fastball into left field to bring home Posey with the decisive run.
