Ambrose Rooney

DOUGHERTY Ambrose Rooney, 95, of Dougherty, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2015, at Floyd County Medical Center in Charles City. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, (October 10, 2015) at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Roseville, with Msgr. Walter Brunkan officiating. Burial will be held in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dougherty, where military honors will be performed by the American Legion Brislin-Hogan Post #354. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday (Oct. 9, 2015) at St. Patrick's School in Dougherty. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be said at 7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to the charity of your choice in memory of Ambrose Rooney. Ambrose was born Nov. 5, 1919, on the family farm outside of Dougherty, son of James and Agnes (Kelley) Rooney. He graduated from St. Patrick's School in 1940. Ambrose was drafted into the Army on Oct. 5, 1942, serving in World War II under Gen. George S. Patton with the 753rd Tank Battalion.
