Internment Camp.In 1945, they moved back to Maui and he was hired as a storekeeper at the Naval Air Station in Kahului until the closing in 1947. He then went to work for Maui Pineapple Company working in the warehouse where he later became the supervisor of inventory control at their Hailiimaile Division. He later transferred to Kahului Cannery Division as the purchasing agent and retired in 1983.Philip was active in various organizations as a board member for Maui Pine Community Association and Makawao Recreational Council, Track Committee. He volunteered helping his friends Hannibal Tavares and Alvin Amaral’s campaigns. He was appointed Member of the Board of Adjustment and Appeals for the County of Maui. He resigned in 1980 when Hannibal Tavares became the mayor as he did not want to jeopardize the mayor’s position. He belonged to the Makawao Filipino Catholic Club and later joined the St. Joseph Holy Name Society until his move to Kauai in 2004.He was active with Maui Track and Field Events and honored to help his longtime friends Bill Tavares and Hannibal Tavares in the dedication of the new Track and Field at War Memorial Complex in 1986. Philip was an avid golfer, belonging to the Maui Retirees Golf Club and the Kamaaina Golf Club. Up until his passing he actively worked in his yard and enjoyed reading Westerns.Funeral is scheduled for Oct. 29, 2016, 9 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Church in Makawao, Maui, with Mass to follow and lunch at noon, at St. Joseph Gym. A celebration of life and final disposition will be on Nov. 12, 2016, 10 a.m., at Kalapaki Beach in Lihue, Kauai, with lunch to follow at the Inciong/Ridley Hale at noon.The family would like to thank the staff at Wilcox Memorial Hospital, Pepe Trask and Ka’iola Canoe Club. Special thank you to Dr. Craig Netzer and staff for years of outstanding dedication, care and kindness showed to our parents, Philip and Alexa Inciong. Kahului Florist is moving

KAHULUI – After more than 40 years at Maui Mall, original tenant Kahului Florist will be moving to a new location on Dairy Road later this month. The new site will include room for a warehouse, “instead of the warehouse being at my house,” said delighted co-owner Natalie Nishimura on Thursday at the Maui Mall shop, which doesn’t have enough storage space. For decades, residents have called Kahului Florist when they need flowers for a birthday, anniversary, funeral or other event. Kahului Florist opened with the Maui Mall back in 1973. The florist moved a block down Kaahumanu Avenue from the old Kahului Shopping Center, along with Tasaka Guri Guri and a few other businesses. Tasaka family members confirmed Thursday that their iconic sherbert shop is not moving. Kahului Florist’s last day at the mall is Thursday. Its refrigerators already have been removed, as well as the sinks and cabinets. But the work of making floral arrangements continues. Cut flowers still were for sale and deliver... (Maui News)
