Strickland & Sons Funeral Home, Effingham Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Edward L. Hodges SPRINGFIELD — Mr. Edward L. Hodges, 76, passed away Jan. 29, 2016 at his residence. The Effingham County native retired from International Paper and the Effingham County Road Department. He was a U.S. Army veteran and was preceded in death by his father, James Lester Hodges; father-in-law, Lamar E. Joiner, Sr.; father-in-law, Sam L. Cochran Sr. Survivors include his wife, Betty Joiner Hodges; daughters, Pamela (Tommy) Ratliff and Melissa (Shawn) Corbitt; grandchildren, Ashley Marie (Lance) Goins, Joshua Thomas Ratliff, Nicholas Edward Hodges, and Kristian Pamela Ratliff; his mother, Mrs. Lois Hodges; sisters, Jane Miller and Joyce (Carl) Bowers; brother, Robert (Karen) Hodges all of Springfield; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Vivian Cochran of Sylvania; brother-in-law, Buddy (Harriette) Joiner of Hawthorne, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Feb. 1 in the funeral home chapel. Interment followed in Union Cemetery. Remembrances may be given to Hospice Savannah, P.O. Box 13190, Savannah, GA 31416. Thomas C. Deborah Lea Moshier GUYTON — Mrs. Deborah Lea Moshier, 61, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, at the Effingham County Hospital. Mrs. Moshier was born in New York, but lived in Guyton for a number of years, and was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, John Moshier of Guyton; sons, Adam Button of New York, Dylan Moshier of Pennsylvania; daughters, Cynthia Blake of Georgia, Sara Moshier and Rachel Moshier both of New York; brother, Richard Spiess of North Carolina; sister, Rebecca Campbell of New York; grandchildren, Rebecca Button, Asher Button, Meghan Button, Morgan Button, Zane Moshier, Arlo Moshier, Harpo Moshier, newborn Moshier, and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be private. Riggs Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Leslie Miles Ellis SPRINGFIELD — Mr. Leslie Miles Ellis, 55, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2016, at Atlanta Medical Center after a long illness.
