Lithonia Man Arrested in Home Invasion

Brookhaven GA -- Brookhaven police have arrested three men in connection with a Dec. 3 home invasion.Joshua Sims, 32 of Lithonia; Samuel M. Alexander, 25; and Demario R. Flowers, 27, both of Decatur, have each been charged with home invasion. Simms is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, firearm possession during a felony, and cocaine possession.According to Investigators, Sims, Alexander, Flowers, and a fourth man – who has not yet been arrested – went to the 1900 block of Saxon Valley Place around 3 am Saturday morning. The men were armed with a handgun as they forcibly entered the occupied home. Brookhaven police officers responded to an alarm call and a 9-1-1 call from inside the house. The officers quickly surrounded the neighborhood and wood line. Lithonia police officer, baby killed in accident

The two-vehicle accident happened on Rock Chapel Road near Kimberly Lynn Drive in DeKalb County. The baby, Melony Flood, was just 1 month old. The police officer, Jamell Dent, was days away from his 27th birthday. Friends and family placed flowers and a teddy bear at the scene next to the tattered debris from the tragic wreck. Dent was off-duty riding his personal motorcycle when he crashed into a van carrying Flood and her parents, James Flood and Jodie Green, both 22. Dent died on the scene. The baby died at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. According to a police report, James Flood suffered visible injuries to his right arm and a deep cut under his right eye extending to his temple. He was treated at Grady Memorial Hospital. Lith... 2 corrections employees, flower shop owner sentenced for stealing victim ...

Daynna Gregory, 41, of Lithonia Georgia, was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay restitution of $232,426.76. Richard Cantrell, 54, of Marietta, Georgia, was sentenced to two years in prison to be followed by three years of supervised release, and ordered to pay restitution of $232,426.76. This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Georgia Department of Corrections. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Trevor C. Wilmot and Kurt R. Erskine prosecuted the case.
