New York Yankees send flowers to slain Polk County officer's family
Polk County Police Department.” Hearne, 29, was shot four times and killed Friday during a police call about a stolen car on a dirt road in Cedartown. Police said she was providing backup to rookie Officer David Goodrich when Seth Brandon Spangler, 31, pulled a gun on them and fired multiple rounds. Goodrich was wearing a bulletproof vest and was unharmed.“The outpouring of support continues to overwhelm us,” Polk County police wrote on its Facebook page. Hearne was the first Polk County officer killed in the line of duty. Spangler and a second person, 22-year-old Samantha Roof, face murder and aggravated assault charges. Authorities are seeking the death penalty against the duo if convicted. Bussey's Florist named 2014 Small Business of the Year award winner
The winner of the 2014 Small Business of the Year for the Polk County Chamber of Commerce was announced as Bussey's Florist in Cedartown.
Bussey's was nominated by fellow chamber members earlier in the year for the award.
The recipient receives this prestigious award for accomplishments made in their business that benefit their customers, employees and the county, according to a press release from the Chamber.
