Wedding in the snow

Brooklyn Joe’s, made sure there was food for the wedding day. “The store was closed down that Friday night because of the storm, but he drove from Buford all the way to Canton Marketplace, opened the store by himself…he is not even a cook, he went in and cooked three giant pans of lasagna by himself, made salad and then drove it to my house,” Gentry said. “Just amazing and absolutely wonderful, so we had food.” As a Philadelphia native, Bogh said driving in the snow was not a problem and he wanted to help. “They had said multiple times not to worry about it, but I knew they wouldn’t get anything else. As long as they were happy, that is what mattered,” Bogh said. “It ended up turning out well. They were thrilled with the food.” Musicians Zach Ramirez and Ryan Fourtier provided music, First Baptist Church Woodstock high school minister Eric Fuller officiated and florist’s Karon Czekala and Meredith Barth made sure flowers were ready for the celebration. MSA Entertainment’s owner Mike Wells made sure DJ John Widerstrom, videographer Matthew Noonan and photographer Courtney Krokey all made it to the wedding. “The pianist and guitarist slept on our floor the night before so they wouldn’t miss being here. We don’t have a piano in our house so the pianist could not play, but he did get up and read scripture from the Bible for us instead,” Gentry said. To bring it all together, wedding coordinators Erica Commins and Dawn Cox of Mabry Events orchestrated the entire day. “Erica went into gear and she is the reason the wedding was able to happen. She offered to pick up the groom that was stuck on Towne Lake Parkway, went and picked all the flowers up because the florist could not get out of her neighborhood. She got the house decorated, orchestrated the food getting here, orchestrated the DJ, videographer and photographer,” Gentry said. “I don’t know how it all happened, but she and her mother were angels.” The big plans of having a formal chapel wedding at Big Canoe with a reception at the lodge on a lake were transformed into an intimate in home wedding with a living room ceremony and kitchen reception by the coordinators. However, the rehearsal was held at Big Canoe on Jan. 6. “We wanted to at least go rehearse because it was such a fairytale chapel and Rachael at least wanted to walk that aisle one pretend time even if she wasn’t going to get to do it the next morning,” Gentry said. “Rachael and I have planned every detail, she is my only daughter. Then we had a kitchen reception and living room wedding: the dance floor was our living room and her aisle that she dreamed of her whole life was her stairs from her bedroom coming downstairs.” Gentry said Rachael and Zak loved their wedding day. “On the way to the airport, Rachael said to me ‘mom this was... John Benoit's funeral service held in La Quinta

Seating was expected to be limited at Tuesday's service, but the funeral was streamed live at www.rivcocob.org/bos-video . A live feed was also shown at Southwest Church in Indian Wells, about two miles north of St. Francis. Those interested in viewing the service were able to watch the live feed at Southwest Church, given the expectation to fill capacity at St. Francis. SunLine Transit Agency and Cardiff Limousine & Transportation operated shuttle service to and from St. Francis. The service lasted two hours, with a reception held afterward in the courtyard of St. Francis. The shuttles took members of the public to and from Southwest Church and St. Francis, transporting anyone wishing to attend the reception. Benoit announced on Nov. 18 that he would be scaling back his workload after a CT scan uncovered a growth on his pancreas and spots on his liver and lungs. Less than a week later, he was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer. Prior to entering the political arena, Benoit spent 31 years in law enforcement, first with the Corona Police Department and later the California Highway Patrol, where he advanced to the rank of commander of the CHP's Indio station before his retirement in 2001. Benoit's first elected position was on the Desert Sands Unified School District Board of Education. Funeral arrangements set for U.S. Marshal killed in line of duty

Ga.  Interment will take place on Nov. 29 at Beahm’s Chapel Cemetery in Luray, Va. The family received friends on Nov. 25 at Flanigan Funeral Home in Buford, Ga.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the U. S. Marshals Survivors Benefit Fund, P. O. Ga.'s First Muslim Funeral Home Opens Quietly In Norcross

Monday. The red brick funeral home, Janaza Services of Georgia, is easy to miss. The funeral home is in a quiet, mostly residential neighborhood off Buford Highway. Its name, Janaza, comes from the Arabic word for funeral. Serving Everyone Abdullah Tahir Siddiqui, the funeral home’s founder and chief financial officer, shows off its elegant interior. Chandeliers provide dim lighting, there are framed paintings of flowers on the walls and, a bit out of place, a University of Georgia Bulldogs floor mat greets everyone who enters. “It’s not only for Muslims, we have to serve everybody: non-Muslims and Muslims both,” Siddiqui said.  That’s the law in Georgia. Funeral homes must serve everyone, which is why you’ll find eight caskets in the showroom – even though Muslims don’t use them. Embalming Vs. Washing Muslims, like Jews, also don’t embalm their dead. But Georgia law requires that funeral directors are licensed to embalm. So Janaza Services of Georgia’s funeral director, Athens native and diehard Bulldogs fan Ahmad Rashad, is also trained to embalm. Embalming is the process of draining all the blood from a person’s body and replacing it with several gallons of fluids and water that preserve the body and give the dead the appearance that they are sleeping.
