Clarence Salzer Clarence Salzer, 94, Bismarck, passed away Dec. 5, 2020 at Sanford Health. A private family ceremony will be held 11:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 11. The service will be livestreamed on the Bismarck Funeral Home Facebook page and will be available on the funeral home webpage at a later date. Clarence was born Feb. 26, 1926 to John and Christina Salzer on a farm near Danzig. He was raised and educated in Ashley. After graduating he attended Wahpeton School of Science. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Consolation during WWII. Clarence worked in partnership with his family in the plumbing, heating and excavating business until 1963. He then continued to operate his own excavating business until 1976. He and his wife moved to Lakota where they owned a Coast to Coast store. After selling the store Clarence and is wife moved to Bismarck where he worked at Sandvigs and several other businesses. Clarence married Bernice Klein on Sept. 4, 1949 at the Ashley Baptist Church. She was also predeceased by her brother, Irwin Wenger. Shirley is survived by her three sons, Bruce Daniel, Clifford Daniel (Gigi) and Sanford Daniel (Janis). Also survived by her grandchildren, Aaron and Julia Daniel. Mom was very dedicated to her family and proud of all their accomplishments. She was proud of her Jewish identity. Mom was very enthusiastic about being a native San Franciscan (born and raised), even having walked across the Golden Gate Bridge on the day it opened in 1937. Mom engaged in many activities to keep her mind sharp, including a lifelong love of playing bridge, mahjong and knitting. Services were held Dec. 20 at Home of Peace Cemetery Chapel in Colma. Solberg family spreads Landon's light by donating flowers to local non-profit - Valley News Live

Gratz says she is so thankful the Solberg family gave them the opportunity to be a part of this process. Those at Sanford agree, saying this donation is already making a difference. "The look in their eyes when they get to leave with some flowers,” said Roger Larson at Sanford Health. “One of the little boys said, who is a patient, he said I want to give that to my teacher when I get back to school. That's where it spreads that joy." Larson says it embodies the positivity and light that Landon had, and it can now be passed along to patients who are fighting their own battles. "It's great,” Larson said. “It just passes that attitude that he had, which we should all learn from where he lived life to the fullest and with such faith." A Mass of Christian Burial for Stephanie Schreurs will be held Monday, August 19 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, according to Anderson Funeral Home. The service begins at 10 a.m. It is open to the public. The family will host a visitation service Larchwood, Iowa Sunday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in honor of Schreurs at any Security Savings Bank location. State Farm Insurance agent, Roshundia Sanford, says she went to work Thursday morning and discovered lots of dirt in front of her business. She then realized that half her flowers were missing. Sanford says this is by far the weirdest thing she has seen. "We’re trying to keep the area beautiful, have it presentable for your customers and just for the downtown area. The fact that they took the flowers was just the craziest thing I have ever heard or seen," Sanford said. Sanford says neighboring business, LaBiche Jewelers, also had flowers stolen the same day.
