Barbara Sue Noble Cooper Barbara Sue Noble Cooper, 55, of Middleburg, passed away on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at St. Vincent’s Medical Center – Clay County following a brief illness. She was a native of Charlotte, NC and had lived in Middleburg for the past 26 years coming from Nashville, TN. Barbara was raised in Putnam County and was a 1978 graduate of Palatka High School. She worked as a CNA at Pine Crest Manor ALF in Middleburg for many years. She loved all animals especially horses and dogs. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Betty Jean Noble. She is survived by her sons, Justin Hampton (Paulette) of Middleburg and Daniel Moseley of Orange Park, brother, Charles “Chuck” Noble of Ft. Peter Jay Chittick

Germany, Guatemala, and Panama. He rejoined the workforce in 1982 at EDS, SAIC and BDM, this time from a new home base in Middleburg, Virginia, where he continued to serve his country as a civilian. After failing to retire yet again, he returned to his local-delivery roots in service to the family-owned Middleburg Floral Gallery. He finally moved once more to Fredericksburg, VA in 2015. Peter was a Mason, a member of the Lion’s Club, the American Legion, a longtime supporter of the Ronald McDonald House, and made weekly deliveries for Seven Loaves Food Bank in Middleburg. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Geraldine Hunt of Poughkeepsie, New York, and their four children; Shaun Chittick of Chesapeake, VA, Loreen Chittick Hitch of Glen Allen, VA, Jeri Lee Thomas of Reston, VA, Linda Beck of South Orange, NJ; and by 7 “damn smart’ grandchildren, and two brothers, Richard T. “Ted” and David Allen Chittick. Family, neighbors petitioning for crosswalk where Middleburg boy struck and killed

MIDDLEBURG A homemade white cross bearing the first name “Locke” rests amidst a small collection of toys and baskets of holiday flowers. A tethered blue and gray balloon sways with the breeze. The heartfelt memorial to Locke Gaddis at Omega Park stands as a stark and silent plea urging passing motorists to slow down, and be alert for children crossing Clay County Road 218 in front of the popular county park. The 12-year-old boy described as “a great kid” by family and neighbors was struck by a car while trying to cross the busy two-lane road at Iris Street near his home about 3:40 p.m. Nov. 12. Locke succumbed to his injures and died Nov. 21. The car’s driver, a 55-year-old Middleburg woman, wasn’t injured and had stopped to call for help. The Florida Highway Patrol investigation is ongoing pending the results of toxicology tests. There is no crosswalk at the site where Locke was hit. “I just don’t want anybody else to get hurt out there,” said his mother, Donna Gaddis. She and his da... (Florida Times-Union)
